Question What do you think about motor oil with PTFE "teflon"

I am planning to use this PTFE oil in my car, the manufacturer has many PTFE oil types but this one that i would like to use called TEFLOLUB U.P. SAE 40 is designed for racing purpouse. It is used in GTO, GTS and GTU categoryes. It is a monograde oil.

What do you think about it?

Actually my car uses a Motul 4000 15w-50 Long life oil but is not designed for special purpouses.

I live in a tropical weather where the lowest temp is like 13 celcius degrees in the coldest season. And normally at noon we have like 28-35 celcius degrees.

Thanks for your advices.
RT

I forgot to say that my rx has a street ported engine, pettit high flow turbos, dp, md and Apexi huge muffler. Pettit upgrades ECU, custom intake and another not so important modifications.

Don't like the pfte "teflon" stuff and you don't need it. Just use regular "dino" petroleum based oil and change it every 1500 miles.

Just use straight 30W dino for warm climates and change it when it starts to get dirty, 1500 miles is spot on - you don't need nuttin' else to keep it happy.

There aren't many parts being lubricated on the rotary that could use coating, and not too many piston engines have piston walls that are chrome plated.

Don't use it. The above advice is right. I use 20/40 summer. Will go to 10/30 winter, unless its being raced. You don't want to coat the turbo bearings with teflon, I'm not an engineer, but I believe it will cause more harm than good.

I think DuPont (maker of Teflon PTFE material) has released statements that it has no benefit as an oil additive. Slick 50 (oil treatment with PTFE) has been sued for false claims or something like that, too. Oil with Teflon in it is snake oil, IMO.

Teflon has been proven to break down in engines, so it doesn't do ****. Just use a good quaility oil like Castrol or Valvoline. You can use synthetic too, but it won't be of much benefit on an old motor. Just make sure the ash content is low. 10w30 is too thin for a modified and turbosharged rotary. I use 20w50 amsoil all the time except when it gets real cold.

Thanks guys, i´m not going to use the snake oil, i found an article -as Max Cooper said- about using oil with teflon.

You can read the article at:

http://www.msgroup.org/TIP043.html

I will use 20W-40 regular oil and changed at 1500 miles.

Thanks again,

I am using an additive called MotorKote 100 - I had posted on advice on it about a month ago...I put it in diff, gear and engine...on the gearbox I definetely have witnessed easier gear changes...the other two are hard to discern

PS I don't think it has Teflon
