What do you suggest?

I'm going to be pulling out about a $5,000 loan to pay for the rebuild and other things. OK, so far I'm going to spend about $3,000 on streetport, and 3mm apex seals, then gonna spend about $1200 on PFC which comes to $4200. I have about $600 left over giving myself a $200 cushion. What should I get? And BTW I will be doing the non-seq mod while the rebuild is going in. I saw on rx7store.net that there is a special for brembo rotors all around hawk hp pads for front and steel braided brake lines all around too and I was thinking of getting that, the other thing I was thinking of was getting new shocks and springs. But what do you guys suggest?

Why are you going with 3mm seals, and why are you going non sequential? Are you doing the work yourself? Because you have not budgeted anything for labor... You also need to consider the cosdt of the turbo mods for non-seq.

Does your sequential system work correctly?

R U pulling the motor yourself? I was quoted 5.5k for a streetport from RP for pull / rebuild / install / pickup

I'm surprised no one asked what he has already done to the car. Are you caught up on routine maintance? (Fuel filter, brakes, is your suspension getting soft) A mod list would help.

if your still gonna go on about that then wwhatever it's been over for a while now. Anyways, all maintenance has been done up to date and the engine went since I blew an apex seal. The prices all include labor and the pfc comes to me tuned, then I'm taking it to one of my buddies that will dyno tune it for $50. I'm getting 3mm apex seals because they are beefier and will hold better, I am thinking of getting 2mm since I do more autoX anyways and I'll be staying in higher RPM's more often. Thanks for the advice and thatnks for being mature about it......

PFC, waste of $$ unless you have supporting mods.

3mm seals, don't need them either.

Re-do your plan.

$2000 Mazda reman
$450 ACT street strip clutch
$450 Fluidyne radiator
$79 fuel line recall kit
$180, all coolant hoses mentioned already
$30 new belts
$125, clean and flow test injectors
$100 Fuel pulsation damper
$40 4mm silicone hose
$55 new plugs and wires
$30-40 for engine oil, gear oil and antifreeze
$250 for ONE motor mount, you might need both or none
$100 engine gasket kit
$100 turbo gaskets
$ 40 fuel filter

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but this is a good place to start.

You can get a discount on parts if you ask, 20% is usually not to tough to get. Malloy Mazda (Ray Crowe) and Mazdaformance and a couple of good choices to go with.

I think you had a DP, if not budget in a few bucks for that too.

Your simple $3K motor and $1200 PFC is far from getting you a nice running driving RELIABLE FD. Doing it your way will produce another low mileage blown motor. No flames, just the facts.

Oh yeah, and I remember you to.

I'm forgetting about it. I'd just like to see how you respond to my post. I've put about 20 engines in FDs, I know what I'm talking about.

My prices were estimates. I get my fuel filters for about $35 from Mazdaspeed (AKA Mazdacomp).
