What do do when you snap off the double throttle nipple

I was looking for a loose vaccum line for my secondary turbo spool when I moved the double throttle vaccum line and snapped off the nipple at the solinoid. Now its the side that comes from the throttle body though the check valve. Now comes the idea what to do? Any idea's ..and why you would do it thanks

I cursed and chastised myself for being so careless and then ordered a new solenoid. $55 from mazdatrix. You can also search the for sale section and see if anyone is selling their old solenoids as they're all the same.

Another alternative is to find the solenoid at your local junkyard in a protege, MPV, or 626. IIRC Mazda used the same solenoid in several of it's higher production cars.

Or you can eliminate the double throttle and take the first couple minutes of driving easy until your motor warms up.

Disable DTCS - it is basically worthless. The motor will respond quicker to input, and you will see boost build up quicker (duh!).

Just remove that vacuum line altogether, check valve and all, from the DTCS actuator (the thing on the throttle body that the line runs to). You don't even have to cap the broken solenoid nipple - it is okay for that line to see atmosphere. Obviously the DTCS actuator is fine seeing atmosphere as well...

thanks for the info wingsfan....Ill look into that later. As for now I take it all I do is cap the nipple at the TB and thats it? Then all I have to do it take it easy till she warms up.

I swear those soleniods will be the death of me..

You don't even have to cap the nipple on the DTCS actuator (the thing on the TB). The actuator itself does not produce nor require vacuum, so it can be safely left open to the atmosphere. When the actuator is not seeing vacuum, the double-throttle valve is open, which is the "ideal" condition.

As for my previous comment on leaving the solenoid nipple uncapped, I was incorrect - sorry, didn't complete that thought. It would actually be best to cap the broken nipple on the solenoid if possible. Otherwise, it would produce a vacuum leak whenever the DTCS actuator would have seen vacuum (when warming up and also under load lower in the revs).

Sorry for the confusion - my car is a bit "different" than yours as far as engine management - my ECU does not know about any "double-throttle", or many of the other extraneous, street-oriented subsystems...

I snapped that same nipple a year and 1/2 ago. In addition to capping the nipple on the front of the TB, I capped the one on the back. That nipple goes to the other hose connection on the solenoid. Doing this will completely disconnect the solenoid from the vacuum system, and you won't have any vacuum leaks.

Just take it easy until the car is warm, and you will be fine.
