Stock Cat-back

Stock Cat-back
Is the stock cat-back really that restrictive?
Did you guys feel any HP difference after changing it out? Obviously not changing anything else that would skew the comparison.
The reason that I am asking is because I've heard that the stock cat-back is actually pretty good, and that most people change it for sound. Is this true or just a bunch of bull?

Depends on what you mean by "that restrictive." It's not terrible, but there are better things out there. HP gains can be anywhere from 5-15 hp from the cat-back, but the real gain is in turbo response. Less restriction= less spool time, and a big smile

Thanks guys,
The reason that I am asking is because currently I am running a mild streetport, DP & straight pipe. And I just love the way the exhaust sounds - mellow deep tone.
I am currently in the break-in-mode of my new engine so I don't know what WOT sounds like but from what I can hear it's just perfect.

Go with the RB, you won't regret it. With the windows up, you will notice very little noise level difference from the stock cat-back (until transition). With the windows down, it will be more throaty with a nice burbly drone on throttle closing. With your setup, I would think you would gain a significant amount of power (10-15 rwhp).

I think they quote about 12-13 hp http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16427
If you like absolute quiet, stock is best. The RB is the next quietest
