what did i do now
ok, so i've had a dying secondary for a long time now. when it first started going bad, someone recommended switching it over to poor-mans non-sequential to see how it affected them... i am finally getting my new turbos put in this week (tuesday) and so i decided to switch them back over to sequential today before the new ones go back in. no here's the problems:
-i am getting between 12 and 14 idle (i was getting 18-20 non-sequentially this morning)
- i am boosting to 6 psi in nuetral (barely got 2-3 before)
-i have no transition, i boost to 7 til 4500 rpms, then it drops to 5, and then starts fluttering violently at around 6000 from 3-5 psi... (getting constant 7 this morning)
i went back through everything twice and cant see what i did wrong. i dont see any loose hoses or anything... its driving me nuts. does anyone know of anything that could cause symptoms like this? i must have messed up something today when i was doing the work, but i cant find what it is now.
thanks for any suggestions
-John

There are 2 solenoids on top of the engine. I dont remember what the names are. One may be the TCA solenoid?? Anyway, they face the front of the car, and are easily accesible. One has a white dot on it. It should be plugged into a receptacle with a white dot. Sometimes people get them switched. Check to make sure they are plugged into the right solenoid.
I suggest you put a smaller pic on your posts

IT was bugging me that I couldn't remember the names of the solenoids, so I looked them up. They are the turbo precontrol solenoid, and the wastegate control solenoid. If you have a Factory Service Manual (1994), you can find them on page f-93. The 93 manual should be somewhere near the same page number.
Hope this helps, Adam

that was the first thing i tried after it got messed up... i cant figure it out. i tried switching the wastegate and precontrol solenoids and switching them has no effect at all, it acts the exact same bpth ways.

do you have pills in the lines? when i bought my car, the previous owner forgot to replace the stock pills in the wastegate/precontrol lines when he changed the vac lines. I was getting 7 and then it would just drop off to 4-5 at 5000, and eventually make its way down to 2-3psi.
i put in a boost controller and problem fixed. you can also buy pills for the lines ( i used nitrous jets from NOS brand....size #59 and #61)

btw, the lines i am referring to are the hoses coming off the wastegate and precontrol solenoids. right by the primary turbo inlet, you have to remove the stock airbox to get to it easily. it should be 2 hoses right next to each other. one is a 2-3 inches long, the other is probably 6-8 inches long.

ok, i got my new turbos put in, (99' spec) and im still having problems, although a little different now. my primary boost up to about 12, but i get no transition, and my boost just drops off as soon as it hits 12. almost like a spike, then falling back down to about 2-3 psi at redline. then if i shift quickly into 2nd, i will get no boost at all. if i slowly get on it in 2nd, then the same thing happens as i mentioned before. i know i've heard about symptoms like these before, but of course, now that i need to know, i cant find anything about it... this is driving me nuts...
BTW, i found one of my check valves was not letting any air through, and replaced that, which is why it goes to 12 psi now instead of the 7 i was getting before.

ok, im still trying to diagnose this problem. i was thinking it may be my TCA, because a lot of my symptoms sound like the symptoms of TCA problems, but i have also heard that if that is the problem, then if you let off the gas and get back on it, you will get boost from the secondary. this deosnt happen on my car, i never get boost from my secondary at all no matter what i do. i tried going up over 4500 without boost and then hitting it, but it just barely accelerates with no boost. also, if i go up to about 5000 rpms in 4th gear, it will stop accelerating all together. it will just sit there and not move past 5000. that only happens in 4th though. ah, this is so frustrating.
anyone else have any input?
