Went non-sequential and love it!
I just finished converting my car to non-sequential via www.dontbearikki.com 's how-to. All I can say is I love it. First time out to test drive I spun the tires from a 2nd gear roll(never done that before) I didn't think my boost pattern was right at all before. And at 110k my turbos are probably on their last leg but I figured what the hell. It seems a little more powerful now but maybe it's because it's new thing.
I've been driving my car for about 35,000 miles in seq. form and I wish I would've seen the light sooner.
I don't know if this conversion is good for anyone that's driving a FD that's close to stock, I've heard people suggest that it's not, but mine is a modded fairly well and again I love it.
Did we really need another non-seq thread in the 3rd gen section? Probably not. But I wanted to thank Dontbearikki for his great write-up/pics on how to perform the conversion.
Later,
Kevin

I only drove it around the block. It seems to have a little more lag than seq. but I am not sure if it's anything I'll really mind in normal driving. In normal driving the car feels not alot different then it did when it was seq. I am taking the car out tonight to cruise so I'll get a chance to drive it a little more. When I took it around the block my eyes were more on my boost gauge watching for boost creep then on my tachometer so I don't know the exact rpm I get full boost at right now.
BTW, my manual boost controller is set to 14 psi. And I know I need an intercooler so I think I am going to turn it down.
As for mods, I don't have anything really big, just normal things. My car is pretty "budget". Again nothng high-buck or out of the ordinary.

what did you do with the solenoids in step 5? did you switch the eletrical connectors and disconnect the vaccum lines from the precontroller?
or did you just take off the precontroller vaccum lines and eletrical connector and leave all the wastegate vaccum lines and solenoids/eletrical connectors alone??
also, was it hard to find the charge control valve, its right under the intake pipes right above the exaust manifold/turbo manifold right?

guys if you are thinking of doing it!!! do it you are missing out on all the fun remember with non-seq more drive time and less time trying to find boost leaks

I'd like to see a comparison of fuel consumption of seq and non-seq. It's a great mod, and it'd be cool to see some numbers. I think engine temps may go up a bit because of non-seq as well as fuel consumption

I disconnected the vacum lines to the precontrol solinoid and plugged them, I left the wastegate solinoid vacum lines hooked up as dontbearikki said he liked it this was so I just went the same route for convenience. I didn't disconnect any of the connectors I kinda forgot to since it wasn't in the directions on the webpage, or at least I didn't see them. My guess is I'll go out today though and just unhook the precontrol solinoid electrical connector as it's running great with both connectors still hooked up.
The charge control valve is not at all hard to find. It's right above the y-pipe and has two vacum lines coming off of it. One goes to the lower intake manifold and the other goes to the upper y-pipe and is a very short vacum hose as it's only about 2" long. You can't miss it. Refer to dontbearikki's webpage for pics.
Removing the TCA was the most time consuming matter for me because it's tucked in kinda under the crossmember. Although I still got everything done in about an hour, maybe an hour and a half. But that includes time in the garage looking for bolts/studs to plug wiith. When I was removing the C clip that holds the rod from the TCA onto the door, the C clip was so rusted that it broke into a couple peices. Hence I don't have a C clip to help hold my coat hanger on, but I bent the coat hanger very tightly and doublechecked that there is hardly any play in the coat hanger so I am hoping it doesn't slip off. I think it should be fine though.
As for how I like it. I drove it around and cruised a little bit last night and I love it. It's great. I don't know if I have more power or if the powers at a different spot but even at low rpms I like it. And the car SEEMS to accelerate better. But as I said I think my boost pattern with seq. was a little screwed up(I was getting low boost on my primary turbo) and that's why I did this conversion. I still think this is a great mod and I wish I would have done it sooner.

Kevin

Im going to do the conversion in about the next week. My question is if I have a PFC do I do any thing different than what it says on dontbearikki.com . I thought I read something that said that the process is a little different. If anyone has instructions on how to do it with a PFC that would be great.
