Weighted shift *****
So what are your guys experiences with weighted shift *****? I’m sure it’ll feel better than the stock? The inertia probably would make shifting easier?
i see the r magic heavy weight ****. That looks like it gets hot though (in hot summer) with the bare polished metal or aluminum.
how heavy is the rx8 shift *****? They look pretty cool and looks taller.
i have a bnm short shifter currently w the stock shift ****. And wanted to try out a heavier weight one to see how it feels. But hopefully one that isn’t bare metal to touch in the hot heat

Get a sun visor and it won't be a problem and the heat won't be a problem with a metal ****. A weighted **** makes a world of difference. The ms ***** are mostly plastic and weigh very little. The r magic **** is the one I have found the most happiness with. You can use it to knock someone out if you needed to

Stock shift **** is weighted, so are both Mazdaspeed *****.
Myself and many others have found it hard to beat the feel and overall ergonomics of the stock ****. I'd like to try the leather Mazdaspeed ****, but can't justify the price they go for these days.
If you want an aftermarket ****, I would suggest a ball-style one, like the RE-Amemiya. Those are different enough from the stock **** to actually feel like an upgrade, and they're a good shape to grip in multiple positions.

Which one is the heaviest? How about between the RX eight and the OEM with red stitching spirit R

I’m giving this **** some serious thought:
https://mr2heaven.com/products/mr2he...yle-shift-****
Is about stock weight and I like the look of it. Just need an adapter.

When the temperature gets to 115-120 degrees a metal **** WILL get hot… I guess you can put a sock over it, wear a glove etc. but even w driving I’m sure it’ll get hot.
is the r magic one of the heaviest ones then?

Have a 'titanium' shift **** and this is the biggest reason I hate it.
Love how it looks and the shape, but park in the sun and you have an issue.
Didn't find that it got hot while driving, but usually had the AC on.

It just seems a bit funny that you install a short-throw shifter and then worry about getting a heavy enough weight **** to help with the extra effort.
Slightly shorter throw with more effort, or smoother, lighter/easier and only slightly longer shift throw. It’s a trade-off. I had one for a couple years before going back to the stocker.

Those fake carbon Mazdaspeed ones don't even screw onto the shifter. You gotta lock it down with a little bolt.
My stock shift **** was getting frayed so I bought an RX-8 one. It's about as heavy as the OEM FD one and screws on like stock. A 5-speed **** from a JDM RX-8 is cool, but they're hard to find and they're also pretty spendy. I found my US model 6-speed one for 30 bucks or so off of the RX-8 club. The rotor shape sold me. lol
Oh yeah, another thing that really sucks is a glowing red hot metal shift **** in the summertime. I'd steer clear of metal ones like Voodoo unless you want a 5-speed pattern tattooed on your palm, especially living in Vegas.

I meant to buy the Voodoo Delrin **** (not my 1st rodeo) and ended up with Aluminum because didnt read the fine print on the textured option (duh, paint wont stick to Delrin).
Im opposite of you guys though- always looking for the lightest ****.
Light **** lets you actually feel what is going on inside the transmission when you shift instead of brute forcing the gear change.
Really helps mechanical empathy and learning to shift with minimal wear.
Listen, feel, learn.
Example- you want to have the engine speed match the new gear selected (rev match) after you exit the last gear, but before you select the new gear with the shifter.
You have probably heard your synchros scream on downshift if you select the lower gear and THEN rev match so the clutch engagement is smooth. If so, you can work on smooth synchro engagement too.
None of us can drive like Senna, but its fun to learn/practice.

I just won this metal weighted **** on YJ, the seller says it is an early FEED **** with no logo. I really do think it is hard to beat the stock ****, but this was only $20 + shipping (USD -> yen exchange rate is helping us out right now), so I couldn't say no. Can't wait to try it out. This and the other FEED **** are quite heavy, ~480g.
