.... its sure got a HEAVY shift ****!
i pulled that sucker off the other day, and thought ...... "what on earth??.... they frickin shortened the engine harness wires to save weight, and then they put this 30 lb **** inside!....what! "
haha. im sure it serves a purpose of "feel" while shifting, but i still think thats pretty funny!

I noticed that the first time I attempted to change my shift ****. I always wondered why they made the **** so heavy. After driving around with a lighter shift **** I understood why.
The heavier **** makes shifting a little easier. You can also feel the tranny a bit better through the OEM ****.
I changed my aftermarket **** with a Mazdaspeed ****. The **** isn't as heavy as the original ****, but at least it fits the car properly.
Too many aftermarket ***** don't fit right or you have to mod the shift rod to make it sit properly.

+1 on the replies, I just noticed that too...
I thought that the weight was necessary to balance off the rest of the shift stick assembly as well...
I was wondering however, how it is to drive it with a lighter ****...
I might just be OK with it...
I don't think however it is more than 1lbs, honestly.
