Website I can get a Coolant Pressure Tester?

Just went to Pep Boys, Discount, and Auto Zone they all directed me to the coolant tester ( to test if the coolant is good) *sigh* so anyways anyone know a site I can buy one of these things. Also that it works on the 3rd gen, I removed my AST if that makes a difference.

whoops....just realized you said "website"....in that case it should be even easier....just type it in the yahoo search engine and you'll get plenty of hits.......

try a more specialized tool store. open up the yellow pages and ask them on the phone first......Stant make the popular one i have.

oh, yeah. I thought you wanted a pressure tester. Oops. You want a coolant temp tester correct?
Those should be easier to find at a local autoparts store. My local auto parts store carries the coolant temp checker thingy but not the coolant system pressure tester.

I have a similar product made by Stant for about the same price. Make sure it comes with an adapter for Japanese car radiator cap.

Works pretty well. The problem that I've seen with the o-ring problem is that on my car the o-ring didn't leak when the engine is cold per the pressure tester.

However, when I left the pressure tester on the car, starts it up through warm up, you can see the pulsations in the pressure tester.

Do you have an Autozone in your area? I used their free rent-a-tool program to borrow a pressure tester for a couple days. They charge your credit card when you take the item, then credit your account when you return it.

I got that Stant tester from Checker. I think it was about $120. I need to get the japanese adaptor, but for now I am happy that it works with my aftermarket AST.

I just bought it today. It tests the coolant cooling level (mixture) and also test the pressure (for leaks) in one. IMO it should be fine, let hope.

I bought mine from NAPA. Best money on a tool so far, though SOOOO frustrating to track down the leaks. Almost wish I didn't have the thing... ignorant bliss and all that...

Forgot to mention, you can hook a mity-vac to the thing and place your system under vacuum at the AST (or the filler neck if you've eliminated the AST) to see if it will hold a vacuum. Very important for re-filling the system... showed me that my quick disconnect was leaking under vacuum, but NOT under pressure. Couple hose clamps later, THAT problem was solved...

So the kit doesnt come with the japanese car adapter kit? Where can I get one? Im going to check one more store before I decide to order it. I need it to track down a leak not o-ring but still good to have on hand.

You can avoid the cap adapter problem by installing a Pettit or similar AST that uses a "standard" pressure cap (off a '57 chevy)

Correct. On my AST I have a standard V-8 (or so) cap.
