We made intercooler pipes tonight

Well after 8 months of work we finally made intercooler pipes tonight in about 2.5 hours. Just to help others here is what I did. I ordered 2 90 elbows mandrel bent from www.atpturbo.com and 2 straight feet. The material is aluminum and I used 2.75 inch to match my intercooler and greddy elbow. For the turbo I got a reducing coupler that went from 2.75 to 2.5 for the turbo. I also got all my silicone couplers from there. It turned out great, of course my friend is a professional fabricator and welder so it may take you guys longer and its really tough to make it come out nice. At the end we were left with about 1 foot of metal and we had used most of the angles up with just straight pipe remaining. We then grinded off the welds and then hit them with a DA so you can't even tell it was welded. When I get around to it I'll polish them. Make sure to get any spare metal out of the pipes and debur the edges after cutting them. I used t bolt clamps to hold everything tight.

That's it and if anyone needs help let me know. I got in 1psi of boost and it felt great it was worth all of the work. The bov sounds nice too and I'm happy with my turbo selection. For all of you looking to go single turbo get a small turbo. They can make a lot of power and its much more fun to drive the car. Plus you don't want more than 500rwhp any way so the engine can last more than a week.

hahaha I deserve all of your comments bring it dude
Find anything I didn't mention about making the pipes?

I did forget to mention that some people make half of the preintercooler pipe the same outside diameter as the compressor housing for faster spool but I wanted it to look right and spool really wont be an issue with this turbo

I'll get some pics of the intercooler pipes in the grass or something. Only the people that slaved over my engine bay should be able to see it ; ) that includes 3 others and myself in a joint effort.

whats milly vanilly mean

ejmack I posted my mods up top all that stuff is new all just installed in this period. I'm also getting horrible ignition breakup because either my leading coil or ignitor got burned along with the ignition amp when I put power through a wire that shouldnt have had it. When I boosted to 1psi earlier the car hit a wall
I'm considering going with a t2 coil but it sounds like a pain and the stock one should be great with the new amp and new plug wires.

I'm not so sure about engine pictures. I'll give you pics of my interior and exterior those are pretty mint!

Oh i see, so you trash my homemade OMP block off plate, but can't provide backup for your engine bay , just ****** with yah man its all good....

You sure your not just dumpin a shitload of fuel in when you get into boost?

I thought it was ignition too until i pulled some fuel out and got up above 10.0 AFR!

I know its ignition because my car doesn't start up as easy and I feel some misfiring during normal driving.

I'm embarrased to let anyone see my engine bay
I didnt polish my alternator or intercooler pipes yet and couldnt get the koyo to fit. and Im not happy with the location of the ast, fpr, or ignition amp. I have to make brackets for the ast and fpr and polish them.

Last night I was driving home from work to my friends house and there was a ricer meet right where he lives and they were all like "spool it up bro" I didn't even look at them I put up my windows until they left haha. Frigen morons

Your set up sounds nice, seems like you just gotta give it some finishing touches and clean things up.

Hey Yanni,

Hopefully you welded on a bead at the end of each pipe so the couplers won't blow off under boost!!!

no my friend asked if he should do that and I said nope

cause I am using new silicone couplers and t bolt clamps

also, the pipes are so big that they touch the metal of the elbow turbo and intercooler outlets. theres hardly a gap between metal to metal is that bad.

what do you think?

Your clamps and couplers should do a good job of holding the pipes together, but under boost, funny things always happen to couplers and pipes with slick surfaces...

Look at all the people that complain about the K&N intake filters falling off inside of the M2 or M2-style intake boxes... Why?? No raised lip on the intake piping. And they are under **suction**

Just to be safe, run the bead on your intercooler pipes! One less headache down the road, I promise you!
