We Have A rear End Problem....

If you read my discription, I'm a Lude driver with a buddy with a 3rd gen. The 3rd gen is awsome with the rebuilt blueprinted turbos and cool stuff, It's one of the fastest cars i've ever been in. Anyway, This thing ate the rear end, I saw pretty big pices of gears falling out of it once it was off. SO David (x-7 driver) Got a rear end from somewhere, and him and this dude with a full garage put the new one in. Cool, I figured... Not quite. Get the x-7 on the road, and we get a kinda high pitched/grinding/vibration noise from the rear end. Very strange and scary. So david contacted the people from whom he purchased the rear end. 5 days later, the next rear end came in, and again they put it in. Well this let the car do the same damned thing. Now This car will roll, Hell, on the way back from the drags, he SMOKED some pittily Cobra Mustang, up to 105. In any case the car just makes that crazy noise i discribed above. All the time, constantly. So I you 3rd gen guys can help that would be really cool, Cause we just think the axle, or some other drivetrain part is out of wack.

Id say it sounds like he got a Kazz unit and they put the wrong fluid in it.

Did he get a whole new diff or did he just swap out the lsd unit in the case? Sounds to me like improper gear mesh, so basically they did not shim the diff correctly.

Could also be an improperly torqued pinion nut and/or they didn't replace the crush collar on the pinion shaft.

Those are good things, THe wear pattern on the teeth? I'll have to see if he still has the PIECES that fell out of the rear end, well the first one.

He swaped out the whole case no new diff. I'll ask him about the gear mesh and shimming the diff. The pinion nut, and the possibility of not replacing the crush collar on the pinion shaft.

I would think they did somthing wrong because they did it real fast, like the 1st time 4hrs, the second time a bit over 2. Thanks for listing possible problems, and if you guys have anything else i'll definatly communicate it.
