The way to increase the value of our 3rd gens!

Ok guys,
I have the solution for increasing the value of our 3rd gen rx7s. I know everyone wants there car to go up in value. If nobody sells there car for less then say 18 to 20 grand, eventually the market value of the car will go up. The car is getting more rare as we speek, becuase people keep wrapping them around trees. If everyone is asking this price and wont settle for less it should work. There are so many people out there that no matter what we charge for these cars, they are going to want one. By raising the price on the FD, this also helps in the aid to stop 16 year olds from getting there hands on them. I dont know about you guys but i sure *** hell wouldnt sell my car for anything less then 22-25k. with the mods i have and money i sink into this car i dont see it not being worth that much. If everyone participates, this just might work. Im sorry to everyone considering buying an FD in the future. Just think of it this way, if you buy one for our asking price. the value of the market will go up and it wont be a bad deal for you.

Unfortunately lots of people who own FDs are very in debt and need to sell their cars quick, therefore cheaply. I would love to see the community as a whole do this, but it's entirely not feasable.

It's a possibility but not a guaranteed possibility. BTW the FD I saw go for 20k was completely stock.

Well I say it IS a guaranteed possibility! In fact I'll *personally* guarantee it's a possibility.

ya it could possibly work but that would take alot of cooperation from how many thousands of owners. i personally will not be selling my car because i think that in a matter of 10-20 years they will be very rare and considered a classic. also the 16 yearold quote was kinda low i know of a couple of kids who are 16 or 17 that bust their asses to afford FD's, 3kGT's and such. if they're mommies and daddies bought it for them and they just end up ricing it out and bagging the **** out of it however ya i will agree with u. im 23 now and paying for school as well as my car and i know how hard it is working 3 part time jobs and attending classes. but i dont mind cause i love my car that much

Cool idea.

There is this one little thing that might pose a problem to your Socialist scheme:

Capitalism.

(ah, to be young and totally stupid...)

If you really want to preserve the value of your car keep it completely stock, or if you just can't resist ricing the **** out of it keep the stock parts.

I really am apologetic for insulting you, but this is the most stupid fu**ing thread I have seen in a LONG time.

It might even win an AWARD.

I'm 17 and worked from the time I was 15 until now to finally afford this bastard...I had to buy one with a blown motor, but I bought it for cheap and I learned how to put in a motor in the process. I have a perfect driving record (knock on wood) and my parents paid for $0 of my car, the comment was a little off base my man.

Here in Greece there is a small RX7 "Cartel" which works pretty much like what has been suggested as there are so few FD's. However, when you put in the factor good car, good engine + cost to keep it this way, the initial c. 27,000 USD tag (ex. rate. @ 1.20) does not seem that high anymore...you will find cheaper, but the you need at least USD 5,000 worth of stuff

If you are true rotorhead.. you would want to keep the damn car than to sell it..

I'm hoping to keep my car until:
1. I'm dead driving it
2. I'm married, no money, no job, 5 kids, on welfare, and couldn't sell my house, other 3 cars, and max'ed out on home equity loan, credit card loan, and all my other personal goods are sold..

Then, I'll get rid of this car.. I've spent too much time, effort, and passion to get rid of it..

Funny how a 19 year old pizza kid is afraid of someone just 2-3 years younger than him will buy his car.

You and a 16 year old are the same demographic to me. I don't know why you think otherwise.

First of all, this wasnt a completely serious thread. The reason i posted it was because i just read another thread where the person was worried about whether the price of the FD was going to increase or decrease. I know what would be involved in such a scheme. I realize that people have economic situations. Yes i am 19, but I have owned other rwd sport cars and have driven tons. I go to Syracuse University (chemical engineering), work 30 hours a week, and paid for half my car cash and financed the rest of the car without of cosigner. Not to mention that i have doubled the amount of money i payed for the car in mods and repairs. All my money. Im sorry to use the stereotype about 16 year old kids, becuase all i have been reading is threads that say, "hey, im 16, my parents just bought me an FD, what kind of body kit should i put on it" and "hey, i just turned 16 and my parents bought me a 93 rx7, how can i make it 500rwhp, for cheap". However, i have a lot of respect for anyone who is young, works hard for there money, and buys thier own car and takes care of it. I for one hate to see threads where people talk about totaling there car. These cars are so rare. If for some chance my car is hit by someone else (like a drunk driver or hit and run) and is totaled, i would like to be able to buy another FD. I dont mind spending 20 k on an rx7, but i dont want to pay that much for a car that is in crap condition or has a salvage title. I feel if these cars are in the right hands, they will last and stay in good condition.

If that were only the problem.

The main problem is, people that want to buy FD's, don't want to spend money. The people that have money to spend, buy Vettes, BMWs, Porsches and other cars. So, the people selling FD's almost have to cater to the cheaper (usually younger) buyers group if they want to sell their car.

I too get upset when I see a very nice FD selling for $15-16,000. However, it's their car so they can sell it for whatever they want. Unfortunately it does put others in a bad position if they want to sell their car and feel it's worth more. Those people just need to decide if they are going to hold out for what they feel their car is worth or not.

The value of practically all cars will always go down. The only ones that don't,...are "special" cars. Ones that are very very limited in production GLOBALLY (like McLarens, certain Ferraris, certain Porsches, etc.). I don't care how many came over to the US. If they are not limited on a GLOBAL scale, the price will drop.

And there must always be something "special" about them. Some significance, like a racing heritage. Being a racing prototype does help. Or even, the very last vehicle of a long production line (like the last 300ZX or Skyline).

Hey now, 19" wheels are OK. It's 20" wheels that are past the point of good taste...
