water temp gauge

i have a quick question about my autometer water temp gauge, as soon as i turn on my car the temperature rises up even before the stock gauge reads that the car is fully warmed up. is my gauge working properly or is it the sender thats not working?

oh and one more question i saw that my alternator belt was loose so i tighten it up t when i turned on the car i heard a popping noise i immediately turned off the car and loosen the belt then turned it back on with no problems what was the noise?

the stock gauge is slow to read. Normal temps run 180 to 220 once warmed up.
Pop? belt not sitting properly in the pully before you cranked? maybe...

I have an autometer pro-comp ultra-lite water temp gauge, if my engine is cold, it doesn't move when I turn on the car.

How/where is your water temperature sender installed?

The stock gauge should read fully warm (or very close to) before your aftermarket gauge shows any change at all.

If your aftermarket gauge starts to show a temperature change before your stock gauge reads fully warm then your thermostat is either missing or it's faulty.

I have mine mounted to throttle body coolant line too. my aftermarket gauge also reads much faster then stock one. i guess its normal. during normal driving, temperature never goes above 212. even when standing still.

thats weird. when starting the car cold, open the filler cap and check for bubles . if you have bubles at cold startup, your coolant seal is done. if you dont get bubles, try burping the system
