Water Pump problems

Well after replacing the waterpump and gasket, I still have a major problem. The Waterpump Housing itself is leaking. I bought another housing, and gasket, but I can't seem to get the old housing out. In the shop manual it says nothing about the pulley to the right of the housing, but I can't get the housing out with it in place. I wanted to see if anyone has taken this pulley out, without problems and just making sure I don't need any SST's.

thanks,
eric

Are you refering to the idler pulley for the a/c and p/s belt? If you are it's just a 17mm socket and it'll come right off. Also make sure you pulled the oil injection lines away from the bottom spout of the water pump body. You could clarify if you post a pic.

Art, I am referring to the idle pulley. I went and bought the 17mm socket for my breaker bar, but I wanted to make sure it was alright to pull it off. The Shop Manual doesn't state that it needs to be removed, and I wanted a second opinion before I start pulling other parts apart. Oh and I did move the OMP lines.

thanks,
eric
