water leaking to interior

I have searched the forum and could not find a definitive solution to my problem. I am confident that someone else out there has had the same problem as me and has an answer. Here goes.

Ever since I bought my car I have had water leaking in from somewhere on the drivers side. It pools in the spare tire well and under the driver's seat. Due to this location, it cannot be the a/c drain line as others have said in other posts as the water would collect in the footwell if it were this. It is also not the hatch door seal because I checked it and and it makes a tight seal. Also, It cant be coming in when I am driving because the car has been sitting in my driveway for like six months now waiting for an engine and it still leaks. I want to fix this problem before I get the damn car on the road because it stinks on the inside and the windows fog up easily, not to mention the fact that I am worried about premature rust. I want to keep this car until I die. If anyone has any help to offer, please do so. This is driving me nuts.

The only place I can think of that would get to both of those places would be the hatch. You probably need to change the seal around the hatch.

Of course it might be from 2 different palces.

Has it ever been wrecked? If all your window/door/hatch seals look good and fresh then water leaks are typically a sign that its been wrecked.

It's the hatch seal, get a new one and have someone put it on. If you do a search on hatch leak, you should come up with a few threads.

I know my car received front end damage from a previous owner, but I can tell from the way it was repainted and from the lack of any repair work done to the frame that the damage was minor. I guess I'll try some new seals. thanks btw.

Sorry to hear about your problem....that sucks.
Next to intermittent electrical problems, water leaks are probably THE most difficult things to trace out and fix.

I had an Audi 4000S Quattro that had a leak SOMEWHERE that allowed water to pool in the rear passenger footwell.
I never did find it.
And yeah, the smell and the fogging....all that **** just SUCKS!

I hope you find where your leak is, sounds like you have a few options to explore.

I have the same problem its the hatch but not the seals for the hatch, its the actual glass seals one why to make sure is to remove the interia trim from the hatch and see if there is any water collected.

Best Regards
