Question Warm Start Gremlins

Hey Guys,

I did a lot of searching on fluctuating idle and warm start ups, I have not found this scenario yet.

I'm just about through the breakin period on my new engine, installed in TX. About 600 miles ago, I picked up a strange problem.

When I start the card cold, it starts fine. Picks up to just over 2000 RPMS, let out the clutch and it drops another 300 rpm.

After semi-spirited driving, and the car is warm, if I stop the engine for less than 30 minutes, and restart (i.e. quick errand or getting gas), the idle starts to drop down to normal. However it drops about as low as 1500 RPM then shoots up to about 3200 and holds.

If I blip the throttle, the idle drops to 950 and bounces cyclically between 950 and 1600.

Again, it ONLY occurs on warm start up. Not on cold. See Signature for Mods.

What sig? Does the idle fluctuate when the clutch is in, out, or both?

my car does this too. However my car will bounce between a very low rpm and back up. I know this sounds like a seriouis problem but the car runs amazing. Sam scenraio, if i let the car sit for under 30 mintues after its warm, it will start fine, but idle will bouce from a very low rpm to nromal...almost sound like its gonna stall.

Happens with clutch in or otu.

Your best bet is to call ken and ask him for advice. He tuned you PFC and since it controlles your idle I would bet he would be of more help than the board.

Already talked to Steve.

He thinks it may be the idle control solenoid. I wanted to post here to see if other people had experienced the same problems or had a thought.

You'd probably have better luck with this question in the PFC forum.

all you guys with the bouncing idle is most likely a vaccum leak somewere. now how high it bounces is how big of the vaccum leak. mine was the hose that goes to the iintake manifold and was bouncing between 800-2500k. then fixed that then it was bouncing at 700-850 and saw that the nipple cover where the boost gauge would hook up to was missing. now it idles at 250 for some odd reason. but hey less gas lol. and i also have a broken vaccum booster so everytime im stopped and push the brake pedal the rpms drop almost too stalling.
