wanting feedback on ignition amplifiers...

Just wondering what you guys thought about your HKS twin power and
AEM CDI? Also around how much hp would you suggest to get one of these. I am going to be producing around 400-450 hp, do you think stock will be fine? thanks, jay

Go with the XS Power Pack or Twin Power. The Power Pack is cheaper and we have tested it up to 18 lbs. Your stock ignition is not going to support that HP.

AEM was supposed to have recently changed there ignition but i dunno if they are out yet . I would make sure you get the new batch if you do decide to go that route.

if he picked up that much torque, he was probably having some other problem and the box just masked it. sounds like a band-aid.

I have the Twin Power and it cured the high RPM breakup I was experiencing. Mileage has also slightly increased.

I agree with Jason. Get the XS power unit. It works just fine and if the info inthe spec is true its an awesome piece of kit.

I saw someone advertising a Jacobs unit for the FD, is there any feedback on that unit?

I use the Jacobs and have had no issues, it was a nice upgrade over stock.

I just installed my HKS Twin Power yesterday and there is a big difference after you install it. The car runs a lot smoother and no more hesistation or ignition break up as you would call it. My power from the low end seems to have an icreased as well as power in the high end so I definetely recommend one.

Good choice the HKS and XS are about exactly the same as far as performance from what others have said but I wanted the HKS quality so thats why I went with them.

I ran the Jacob's unit and I went through three sets of leading coils over the course of a year. I would suggest that you relocate your leading coil from under the throttle body since it appeared to be related to heat.
It could be that I had other problems, but I got rid of the Jacob's and my fourth coil is still working fine five years later.

I have used in the past B&M which worked well. But the current one I use is the accel 300+. In a class of it's own.

I have the Jacobs unit on my car with a relocated coil and it has given me no issues. I will soon be pushing it to around 400-430whp with a GT35R kit, so we will see how it holds up.
