Want to know what could cause a soot leak around the turbos.

I am investigating where the soot comes from but havent had any luck so far. The second turbo is covered on the bottom, the wastegate is cvered on the bottom aswell as the shield under it, the tranny has got some on it, the engine has some too.

Is this caused by a crack in the manifold?

Plz help me out, i've been asking before with zero reply and i really want to get this sorted out. I dont want to take off the turbos if it can be avoided.

Sounds like you may have an exhuast leak is it a whiteish gray color. Or it could be oil if it's a black is slug.

no it's dry black soot. It can be a crack or just a seal that needs to be changed but im not very sure.

i wish that i could post some pics of it. there's not any soot on the downpipe so it's not leaking, but could have been leaking when it wasnt mine.

If it's dry black soot sounds like coked up oil may have had an oil leak at one time that some one fixed but never cleaned up the area very well. Light bulb goes off someone may have undersprayed the carand got it on the engine, turbos etc. Not totally sure just giving you some thoughts here

I've been thinknig about this the whole day and come to the conclusion that i will leave the soot problem, unless anyone knows that that is a bad thing to do. I havent had any problems with the car last summer and i hope to upgrade to a singleturbo 2004.

Now if anyone knows something i dont plz tell me now so i know i'm really doing the right thing or not.
