Question B&M short shifter install

Ok, I just ordered my short shifter and now I need some help with installing it. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a "play by play" for doing it myself?? I'd really appreciate any and all help that you guys could give me. Thanx in advance. Laterz.

Remove shifter **** and center console cover, remove the attaching bolts and gently pry the shifter & cover from the top of the trans and place it out of the way.
Remove the white plastic ring at the ball of the old shifter (without breaking it) at gently press it onto the new shifter ball. Make sure you have a few rags to stuff around the opening to catch the gear oil that seeps down the side of the trans.
Clean the edges of the mating surface of the trans shift housing with brake clean/parts cleaner, best if applied to a rag as opposed to spraying it on. Make sure all old silicone is cleaned off as well.
Apply a fine bead of RTV silicone around the trans shift housing and smooth it w/ your finger, don't apply any to the shifter, wait a minute for the silicone to start to set. Install new shifter into place, install new cap bolts and hand tighten (do not overtighten).
Install new rubber boot and spring clamp. You can install to old boot over top of the new shifter if you want, it adds a bit of cushon when shifting. Install console cover and shifter ****. You may want to wait an hour to let the silicone to set, overnight is best.
It takes a bit to get use to, you will grind a couple gears and mis-shift a few times till you become acustomed to it. Have fun!

Thanx a million. Thankfully I'm in the Air Force and have access to all the RTV and other such things and seals that I could ever need. I didn't even think about that. Thanx again. Laterz.

It comes with an install paper that shows you some pictures and tells you what you need for the install. Basically the same stuff that Rotorhead said. Except it didn't take any time at all to get used to the shifter, shifts were so much smoother after the install. Have fun with it. It only takes about a half an hour to an hour depending on how easily you can get the bushing off. Good luck

I put mine in this past weekend. Very easy install, instructions that came with it were great, and the whole thing took less than an hour.

What a difference the short throws make! I am amazed at how easy shifting is now.

Good luck
