Why not just go out and buy a Supra then? Not trying to flame but the FD was never meant to be a vert. IMO.

Why everyone say Miata's are gay, Tho i do agree the early models do look extremely gay, With 99 spec body, And a 13B it is nowhere near gay.

I know this is a lil off topic, but this was brought up in some posts

Do you honestly think that a R1 with a T-top would look that bad ? You could keep some stability to the car then.

because it still says miata on it and if you put in a rotary 99% of the people who see it aren't going to know it's a miata w/ a rotary they are going to think it's a gay guy w/ a loud obnoxious flamer mobile.

I have a friend, whos Gf's brother bought a used
FD3S convertible.. Long time ago. Not sure if he still
has it or not. But back in like 96. He bought this
Gold FD3S convertible for for like 23K, from auto mall
@ Herb gordon auto world in Silver SPring MD.
Car also had 20" Lamborghini 5 circle rims on it.

For one the CAR looks amazing. Beautiful car. especially
with the TOP down.. Car is total bad *** deffinately babe magnet and rubber neckers delight.. BUT..

Would I do it..???? HELLLLLLL NOOOO...

Supposedly the conversion cost like 16K.. But to make the Safe. They had to WELD all kind of stuff to the car.
to make the structure of the car Stable.. I believe it
added like another 1000 Lbs to 1500lbs to the car..
EVERY thing underneath the car was welded and reenforced.. The car looked great. BUT SLOW AS ****.
I wouldn't doubt if a n/a civic lx would take it in the 1/4mile. Not only that all the extra weight caused
problems with drive train and everything else..
The car basically was in the shop every month getting
something fixed.. NOT sure if the person still owns
the car or not. But even he stated it was more of a hassle than it was worth. and the Convert FD3S was
under warranty..

Converting roofs for Sunrooff isn't a bad idea.. BUT if convertible is what you want.. DO not CONVERT your
FD3S..

Just a word from the Wise..

good luck

I wouldn't make it a vert. I thought about what a 7 would look like with a targa top....but I dont' even know if that would look good.

Jedon,

Your car looks like the SCC weight removing project they were playing with. Looked like crap but taking a saws-all to the car dropped 2 sec off the 1/4 mi ET

Thumbs down

The maroon one looks like a Jaguar if you ask me.

I agree with everyone else--you'll definitely ruin the car's handling. Also, why take a car that is most comfortable at triple digit speeds and make it a vert, where it will rarely go that fast due to wind noise and concern of rollovers

If I were you I would get an S2000 and put a supercharger on it, those are fast and have like .95g skid. My friends has one and they are very smooth, quick and the chassis is tight. Better than messing with your 7. Plus a new car won't rattle like your 10 year old one.

Obviously keep the 7 too

i think the mod does cost abour 9-17 grand. you don't want to go to any body shop. There are a few in the country that know what they are doing and know what is involved.

I do agree with spending the money on a miata and making that handle better, look better, and go faster.

pfs put a rx-7 bumper on a miata and it looks pretty good (there was a write up in turbo magazine (may '93 i think...just going from memory)

http://www.pfsupercars.com/bdypags/g...pfmiata/07.htm

or the anti-chick car miata:
http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/b...33/MiataR.html

You can also safely get 240+ rwhp with a turbo and upgraded fuel management in that little thing (lighter then the FD)

while we are on that subject, i don't think a miata is a chick car. That car out handles many cars on the track (even in stock trim). If there ever was a chick car it'd have to be a 6 cyl camaro!
