Valet Mode

Didnt I hear something in a thread a while back about the stock ecu having a valet mode or a way to make it have a valet mode where the boost is turned REALLY low and not able to controlled by anyone other than yourself? It may have been with the EFI system from PFS, not the stock ecu.

I know you could have a setting using PFS PMC for rev limit of 4k and boost at 8psi...sounds like valent control to me...

Gotta ask but why valet-park your car( if it is valet at all), unless it's in a shop for unrelated service or other reasons where you want the tame performance?

You need the commander/keypad

Go into menu 4 (boost) on the setting you want to be valet/shop control and set pri boost to 8psi and secondary to whatever (because it will never be in operation). Then go into menu 9 (settings or options) and select "vent learn" ON, and set the REV limit to 4000 rpms. And hide the switch, I changed out the bulky rotary switch to a three way toggle and placed it in the ... (well not to hard for you guys to find, since its on a web site) but someone who doesn't know what an FD is, wouldn't know to look for it, or know what it did if happen to stumble acroos it)

hope this helps.

I dont valet park it, i was wondering because when I take it to the shop I have a hard time trusting a bunch of younger teens. When I took it to get the a/c working right, the guy didnt know I was there and he was taking his buddy out for a "spirited run" he actually told me.

So, where did you put the switch and where did you buy the switch. That sounds like a good idea.

I personally wouldn't take my FD to a shop were I felt that I couldn't trust the employees with its actual performance. If you can't trust them to respect your property, can your really trust them to tear into it? I perform most of the work myself on my car and am lucky enough to have knowledgeable friends to lend a hand when I have concerns.

You have friends that do body work too? The only time I've ever used it was, when I got my windows tinted (not one mile was added to the odometer...yes I checked before I dropped the car off) and once using valet (asked to park my own car, they wouldn't let me) I currently run three settings, slow, fast, faster. Slow is for 8psi -> fun for spirited city driving, don't have to hold on for my life everytime I floor it

There are some things, im sure you wouldnt be able to do, as I am talking about. I cant recharge my own a/c, I cant tint windows, and I sure as hell cant paint my car. Thats the circumstance where I have had to let others do it.

It's not like it's hard to do, so when you go drop you car off, just goto the rev limit and drop it to 4000 (no matter what boost setting) and that will be enough for them (who ever is joy riding) to think they phucked up the car...I hit the rev limiter one time without realizing it and when you're boosting 12psi and expect a huge power increase in a second and the car stutters at 4000 and doesn't go any where...it scares the **** out of you!!!

Just put a sticky note on the middle of the steering wheel when you drop it off with the EXACT mileage on it, sign it and print your name as "owner" and make a note of it. Give a copy to the shop manager with the keys.

The note should also say: DO NOT REMOVE UNDER PENALTY OF CASTRATION.

They'll get the message........ Has never failed me.
