Vacuum Hose Question?

ok i took off the black box that was behind alternator and in front of intake. It's really small, there are two hoses coming out of it. One was connecter right below it and the other one was disconnected. I also found out that the other peace of that hose is coming from the top of turbocharger.

I got this picture of the web. I connected them without that small filter. IS this gonna work fine? I just got one hose coming from the black box to the turbocharger. IS this ok?? Please reply

it's a check valve. leave it in there if you want your secondary turbo to come on

nope that is not ok. you ned to have the box in there and connected otherwise your whole twin turbo system will act up. the hose that goes from the y-pipe attaches to the nipple closest to the front of the car and the rear nipple attaches to the hose that goes to the engine.

if my memory serves me correctly, that is a special check valve with a built infilter. the best thing to do is go buy that part from mazda. you *might* be able to get away with installing a inline filter and generic check valve, but don't quote me on that. but you need some kind of check valve in there.

non- technical terms
it is the check valve w/filter between the pressure tank and the turbo y-pipe.

see if he can find a diagram so you can point it out to him. it is the only tube coming off the pressure tank with a check valve.

im not sure what its called either but you can just go to the dealer and tell them to print out a parts page for the vacum hose system, then track the box down from there.

so you guys think this is really important? And will this improve my secondary turbo by coming online? I checked all the hoses from turbo and around turbo and they are all good and connected properly instead of that thing, yet it pulls really hard till 4-5 k and then it kind of slows down.

That check valve allows pressure to remain in the pressure chamber which in turn allows your secondary turbo to come online. The absence of that valve is the cause of your power loss above 4500 RPM's. I tried replacing it with one of the generic check valves sold at chain auto stores under the "Help!" branding but it quickly failed. Replace it with the Mazda OEM piece, PN# N390-13-995A. Costs about $40 if I remember correctly.
