Do label every vacuum line and plug and where it connects (I used masking tape and numbers)

Do buy small zip ties and tie secure each end of each hose

Don't try to pull the hoses off. Pry them gently with a screwdriver while pulling slightly.

Don't pull off any of the fuel lines without releasing the fuel pressure.

A few more things:

You may find you have to unbolt the solenoid rack to get to a couple of the hoses. If you have the money, you should replace your Fuel Pulsation Damper, and send your injectors to RC Engineering to get them cleaned and flow tested. It's about $130 for the FPD, and $28.50 a piece for the injectors.

At that point, I found it easier to pull the rat's nest out entirely and do the hoses comfortably at a workbench.

Also, check the connection to the oil injectors for the metering oil pump. They're right near the primary fuel injectors, and have brown-colored plastic tubes coming out of them. Make sure they aren't broken or leaking.

That's about all I can think of for now. Ask specific questions as you go along, and you'll definitely get help here on the forum.

also, it is much easier to reach the vacuum line that goes to the fuel pump (its connected to the inside of the LIM) if you remove the ACV ( the big piece of crap connected to the top back inside of the LIM)

paul

and replace that damned fpd!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm about done with my hose replacement, but now I'm concerned about this FPD. Anyone got a photo? How do you know if it's bad, or is it just a good idea to replace it while you have everything apart? Please advise!

It's a good idea to replace it while you have everything removed, since it's a common failure point in the fuel system. Do a search and you'll see a number of discussions about it. If you aren't smelling fuel, then you probably don't need to replace it yet. I've attached a picture of it. It's located at the firewall side of the primary fuel rail, sandwiched between the lower intake and solenoid rack.

Are you ever going to finish???? I guess people who don't daily drive their cars can afford the time.

The FPD is bolted to the firewall end of the primary fuel rail. Looks like a small can with a fuel hose attached to it.

My hold up now is my UIM and TB. Twin Turbo Teddy has them for polishing, and I haven't gotten them back yet. It pains me to see my car sitting apart for 4 weeks now, but my hands are tied!

How did you do at the Auto-X last weekend?

Beat by a pack of better driven Z06's once again, but I did outrun the Boxster S's and the M3. Mike McClure and Beth Strelnieks were both there; ouch. Car was great but the tires are nearly gone. I think MSR will be the end of it for these and I will have new Victoracers on for the next events.

Unfortunately I had a set of sticker Hoosiers that I sold when the engine blew. Double ouch. It hurt packing them up.

I do have 5 sets of Victoracers now though (thanks Russ)
