Vacuum hose hell

I started doing the vacuum job last night... For some reason i thought it would go smoothly, but I broke two of the solenoids. I desperatly need my car running by tomorrow but I dont have two hundred dollars to spend on new solenoids. Is anyone here close to gaithersburg MD that has the solenoids sitting around?? I dont have much money to offer but I would be very thankful!

Which solenoids are you looking for? Go to the parts for sale section and get them off there. The solenoids are all the same on the rack. The guys that have gone single have them sitting around and would probably sell them for around $20

Actually, your job is going smoothly.........It would not be unusual to take a week to do it the first time. Oh, btw, TAKE your time, or you'll get to do it all over again, guaranteed.

try this for a quick fix

use a piece of 1/8th nylon tubing (simliar to the one used on boost gauges)

put it in the nipple, put the old piece around it and glue, the glue should hold it all together, and the tubing provides stability for the airflow

Here's my solution

Non-seq

http://www.dontbearikki.com/id49.htm

Try it out, no solenoids needed.

well, here is the rapup.. This was the first time i had ever taken apart an rx7. Most of the stuff was pretty straight forward. it took me about 12 hours start to finish, broke two solenoids, and cut my hands 15 times. So i get in the car... turn the key... and to my suprise... YAY it started. well i go out for the test drive. and now its worse than ever. i have NO early boost like before.. and i can barely get any boost in 3-5th. Well im too angry to do anything further to my car for at least a week. so next weekend im gonna go non sequential. God i cant wait to get my t04 kit.

oh and i accidentally drained about 2 gallons of gas under my car, so by the 5th or so hour I was on my knees about to vomit... still turning a wrench... at this point i decided to take 15 :P

This is definately one of the jobs not to rush...It took me a month to get mine done...only working on it on the weekends though at about 3-4 hours here and there....If I were you I would take a drive to a rotary specialist...Is PFS near you? Either way, sounds like non-seq is the way to go as a means of getting rid of the headache..

12 hours is kinda rushing it. I have spent more time doing simpliar things just to make sure I dont get frustrated and break ****, lol. You need to take your time, especially when doing a hose job. I am now running non-seq and love only having a few hoses to deal with but for some people they prefer the sequential system. It kinda depends on your mods also.

Just spoke to rikki, he said you might want to try swapping the connectors on the wastegate and precontrol solinoids.
They are the ones that are on the front of the uim under the vacum tank.
they are the two that are green.

well... i checked all the lines... and figured out a way to raise my boost.... YAY im boosting... i put one of our standard boost controllers in line and im hitting a little over ten psi.... car is pulling hard... so i put it on our dyno... and i made 230 hp at 6500 rpm.... only problem is im WAY lean. i guess i must have fucked something up with the fuel pressure **** while doing the hose job... is their any way to fix that without pulling the uim?? or someway to do a quick check?
