Vacuum chamber removal

I broke the nipple off of the vacuum chamber that is located under the alternator near the power steering unit and its bracket. Browsing through the service manual did not give me a clear understanding of what needs to be removed to replace the chamber. The alternator is already removed and thus all the belts. From the diagrams that I have seen there appear to be 2 bolts attaching the chamber.

What all do I need to remove to get to the chamber? Power steering pulley? Power steering unit? A/C?
Engine hanger? Power steering and a/c bracket?

it is only held into place by two 10mm bolts. You don't need to remove all that stuff. It's the Y-pipe bracket 10mm bolts and one more near the UIM

I just removed the vac chamber recently when I replaced the OMP. Here's all you have to do:

Remove the alternator

Remove the oil filler tube

Remove the engine hanger bracket by the oil filler tube

Remove the alternator mounting bracket (the one with the tension adjust)

Remove the mounting bolt at the bottom of the vac chamber (you can see it from underneath but I found it easier to remove from the top).

Remove the second mounting bolt that is over near the oil filler.

Vac chamber will slide right out the top now. No need to touch the power steering, a/c compressor or their mounting bracket.

This wasn't as bad as it sounds.

That's the pressure chamber on top of the motor, not the vacuum chamber that is on the front of the motor.

My engine never had one. I found an o-ring at the hardware store that I use.

I helped a buddy of mine out with a broken vacuum tank nipple back in the day. Removed it, drilled/tapped for 1/8" NPT, and put a brass fitting in the hole with a 1/8" hose barb on the end. Worked out great, looked clean and worked perfectly.
