is this usual....

I am driving home from work today and I just got the windows tinted yesterday so I am running the A/C, when I get home I let the car sit for a little bit as usual. The question I have is I walked back into the garage about 15 min. later and there is a weird noise coming from my car, it is something with the coolant I can hear it bubbling in the AST (stock) and in the overflow tank, I have never heard it do that before. The stock temp gauge is reading normal, I know they are unreliable, I am sure It is not overheating. Is this normal? or am I over-reacting? Any help is much appreciated.

Bubble Bubble, get ready for Trouble! (OK, so Shakespeare I'm not Get the stock AST off of there and replace it with one of the aftermarket units, check all hoses, etc., fill and burp system. Mine started gurgling like that shortly before the AST cracked and cost me an engine.

ok so i am new at the rx7 lingo........ mine does the same thing like after i drive it and it is warm it makes this noise like water is bubbleing or gurgling and it is passing through the engine. What is a AST and could this be caused by a boost leak or vacume leak. And what do i need to do cause it is a dayly driver???????

Gurgling sounds are not necessarily disaster.

When the car is cold look take off the filler cap and check the level. If this level stays relatively constant from day to day, your cooling system is working fairly well. It's hardly a comprehensive 'test', but it's easy to track and tells a lot.

I was also told to take of the cap and let it run and if i get bubbles then that shows that there could be bad seals.......... is that true?

And i am also about to do a coolant flush in it cause the person that i bought it off had a oil leak from the turbos but didnt know where it was comming from. I put new turbos on it and it was just alot of shaft play that made a seal on the compressor housing go bad and let oil throught the intake and all. And i beleive some got into the coolant cause there is a small skimm in the colection tank.

Thanks for the help, My coolant level stays the same, full. To be on the safe side I think I will just put an aftermarket AST in it. Hopefully the bubbles don't mean trouble. Thanks again.

Changing the coolant is a good idea, but the oil in the intake is not the reason you have some in your coolant. The scum in the coolant is fairly common and not much of anythign to worry about.

install an aftermarket temp gauge (like Defi).

You probably has air in the system...burb it.

If it's bubbling that means it's leaking. Just order a nice pettit or something. If you really need one cheap I'll sell you mine with 45k miles on mint for 5$ plus shipping lol.
