UIM stud removal/install ???

How do you remove a stud from the UIM? One of them is stripped and needs to be replaced.

Put two nuts on the stud (tighten one on top of each other) and use a wrench on the bottom one to work it out. The top nut will stop the bottom one from loosening off. No need for vice grips.

Use this procedure to put the new one in, vise grips to remove the stripped one.

if you're using the locknut technique, I'd suggest using different size nuts. If the bottom nut is bigger, it will make it possible to use a socket wrench to torque on the bottom nut. Othewise, just use a combination wrench.

OMG dude you put the vise grips on the part at the base where there is no thread.
I have swapped several and never had any problems.
Throw a rag on the stud if your worried about chewing threads.
It's not a hard thing to do.

Im not retarded, i understand where to put the vise grips. I just wasn't sure if you chewed it up if it would do anything bad. Thanks for your help.
