RX-7 Type RS? Good buy?

Hey Guys.

I’m obviously new to this forum and I’m obviously here because I like RX-7’s, however, I don’t actually own a RX-7 right at this moment, though I’m changing that fact in the not to distant future.

What I’m actually after is advice and I thought this would be the best place for it.

I don’t like the seven for the engine, I have driven one once and the handling was what sold it too me, that and it’s dead gorgeous too look at.

Now, I’ve had my shrewd eye on the RX-7 Type RS but wanted some information from seasoned, experienced veterans such as yourselves before I invested my money into one.

Is there anything not too like about the Type RS? Any particular things to keep an eye on? Any years too avoid?

Any forth coming information or advice is greatly appreciated.

Try 2000 rx7 RZ. Recaro bucket seats, 17in bbs rims, blisten shocks, no a/c or stereo, aluminum foot rest, Nardi steering wheel, power weight ratio 4.54kg/ps. The RZ is 10kgs lighter than the RS.

Or you can go with 2001 rx7 R bathuarst or bathuarst R. They came with adjustable coilovers and mazdaspeed carbon panel kit, shift ****.

Read the FAQs, the sticky links, etc and get to know the ins/outs of this engine. It has advantages and disadvantages. You should do a search for 'type rs' to see what's involved. Basically, it's like our FDs, but with improvements.

95% of the readers here are in the US or Canada - where we dream of things like the Type RS. Maybe the NZ/Aus forum will have more info.

Hey Native, I've got an RS down here in NZ... and this far, I can't fault it.

As these guys have said, check out the FAQs and sticky links - they were an invaluable source of information when I purchased my car

If you're in Auckland, have the car checked out by Tony at RX7 Heaven, or perhaps one of the other rotary shops.
Some of the other NZ guys on the board can probably shed a little more light on the subject too.

(Is this the RS you're looking at? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-21877867.htm )
