Turned up boost
So yesterday i decided to up the boost a little more. I got it up to about 9 or 10 psi. And wow the car felt awesome! huge difference when i had it at 5 before or even 8. But this time i heard a loud pop =(
Im pretty sure my bov started leaking. Because i could hear air escape and make a loud whistle and the most i can boost is .45 bar before i hear the whistle when last night i was boosting .52 bar and it was perfectly okay. Im pretty sure its the bov because i was checking for any air leaks and the bov happens to spin around the flange really easily. And the bov sounds a little different, like i can hear air release right before the bov is supposed to open, and its a little quieter when i get off the gas.
So i ordered a new o-ring and c-clip for the bov flange. so hopefully that fixes my prob.
So now at 6 psi, im dead even with my brothers mr2. instead of beating him. amazing what a few psi difference can make.

A "POP" usually means a blown boost coupler. Did you check them carefully (remove and inspect on all sides for hidden tears)?

ooo thats a good idea too. i will check that. i mean i shook them around and they all seemed tight. but i will need to see if there are any tears.

Weird thing happened to me about 3 wks ago. I heard a pop and all of the whistling with no boost and everything, and when I got out to look, my turbo housing on the secondary turbo came off. That caused my y-pipe to come into so all of my boost from the primary was blowing out toward the rear of the engine bay. Basically the only thing keeping it in the engine bay was the intake piping to the air filter, and the vacuum stuff connected to the y-pipe.
All I could figure was something was wrong with the c-clamp that held it on, but looking at it I saw nothing. I did end up just going ahead and replacing the turbos. So it could be that but probably not.

I bet it's one of the 90 degree ones that poped off. It doesn't necessarily mean it's broken. I would guess the clamps weren't tighten as tight as you thought. So just have to tighten it a bit more or use T-bolt clamps. Those things work best.

I am using mostly tbolt ones. Except on the turbo...i dont know why, i didnt have any t bolt ones small enough for it. But...
I really do think its the BOV. because i think we messed up the C-clamp transfering the bov from the FD flange to the universal flange. I just dont think its right that the bov would spin around freely. And at higher pressure i think the bov seperates from the flange creating a leak.
