Turbos dead?
Turbos dead?
I just got my car up and running a week ago now this. I was hoping someone could help diagnosis my problem although I believe I know. Leaving work I pull out onto the main road, 1st gear, 2nd gear start to boost 1-3 lbs then "bang" I hear a loud pop from the exhaust, then the car starts shaking and the check engine light comes on. I immediately pull over and cut the car off to check things out. Open the hood and everything seems fine. Then I start the car, no check engine light. Then I start to drive, this is when I notice that every time I start to boost that's when the car starts to shake and the check engine light comes on. So? Are my turbos shot? 64K miles on the clock, stock engine and turbos. mods below. Any help and/or suggestions I would apreciate.

It's weird though, I was able to drive it home (~20miles) no problem as long as I didn't boost.

IMO, it doesn't sound like an engine failure, either. It wouldn't idle well and run with no problem even at no boost. As everyone has said, since you had a CEL, get the codes and go from there.
Idle is solid at 800
Vac is 17
Car starts fine, runs fine but stumbles when nearing boost and won't boost.
Codes it is...
Forgot to mention that the check engine light goes off after cutting the car off and then back on. But that may not mean anything.

I pulled the engine codes and got:
17 = feedback system
26 = metering oil pump (stepping motor)
27 = metering oil pump
Would this cause the above symptoms?
I'll check again to make sure I got them right.

Your OMP and/or the wiring to it is failing and putting the engine into limp mode as soon as the ecu sees any boost. I had the same problem last year. Replace the OMP, reset the ecu and all will be well again.
