The questions "Will this fit with the GREDDY FMIC?" Has been asked twice. No one answered. So I will ask again.

WILL THIS BATTERY TRAY FIT WITH THE GREDDY FMIC (With the rad in the upright position)?

Thanks

Yep, but I think we need to put and end date on this so we don't wait forever. I would suggest July 2nd. That would give 2 more weeks to get a few more people. After that, we go forward "as is".

From looking at where the radiator is mounted when using a Greddy FMIC, I would think it won't work. If you look at Damian's picture:

It looks like it's not going to work for this sized battery and/or tray.

Think you are right. The clearnace doesn't look enough. It would be butting up agains the fan shroud....Think I will go with the RE one....But damn, it's a lot for a battery tray at 250...May just buy the Odyssey battery and make my own tray

I would think about getting one but don't they make batteries that are at least an inch smaller in width?

I have seen them mounted in RX-7s before. This battery looks about an inch thicker.

And therefore the batt tray would be too wide for the battery I would want.

Am I wrong?

This battery is NOT the smallest one out there. It has it's advantages and disadvantages.

If you get the Optima 51R then you really don't loose significant capacity over the stock battery which in many cases is a good thing.

If you want the smallest/lightest battery out there then this isn't the tray for you. The smallest/lightest battery out there will not have much capacity for winter storage or not driving for weeks at a time, playing the stereo or running the fans when the engine isn't running.

Many guys like thier small batts, many guys like the capacity of the stock system. You've got to decide what is important to you.

Joseph,

You're thinking of this setup:

http://www.rotaryextreme.com/minibattery.html

I have that Odyssey mini battery already in my CRX. However, I drive the CRX every day. I was thinking about putting the battery in the RX-7, but I'm only driving the RX-7 once or twice per week. A local RX-7 guy has the Rotary Extreme kit in his car. He told me that if he lets his car sit for more than 3 days, the battery won't have enough juice to start the engine. He does not have the fan mod (the one that runs your fans for 10 mins after shutting down) either.

I don't want to deal with worrying about my battery being dead. I'm going with Jeff's setup.

Sonny

edit: I'm going for the Optima mainly because it's sealed and is a deep-cycle type.

I had the odysey mini, which I switched from both my CRX to my RX7 depending on which I drove and it only lasted a year. I never bothered witht he warranty since it's prorated. One time I left the radio on with the car off for 30 sec and then I had to push start the 7.
