I usually set the turbo timer to 10 minutes then shut the car off and then back on in the acc. position then off. It will run the fans for 10 minutes or run them untill things cool off. This is the only reason I even have a T/T

Turbo timers are toys for foolish kids that don't know any better. They are a waste of time, space, and money. Don't get one!!!!

I sooooo appreciate your view of these as it allowed me to get one for 1/2 the price of a voltage meter, looks much better and gives me other flexabilities that not having one wouldn't allow.......but then again if we all followed your views we would still be running the stock air box.

No, I don't let the car run for 10 minutes. I drive normally for a few minutes before I turn my car off. Then I turn the ignition back on, then off again to leave the fans running. I agree with Adam, turbo timers are a huge waste of money. The only reason I have it is because my wife got it for me for my b-day a few years ago.

beqa16v, turbo timers are for cars which have non-water cooled turbos. The stock FD turbos are water cooled, therefore there is no issue with oil coking.

Using turbo timers to run the car for "cooling" purposes other than for non-water cooled turbos is a bad idea. The way radiators/oil coolers work is by having air flow through them to cool the liquid passing through. If the car is not moving, then the air flow is limited to just the fans and that's not a lot. The best idea with the FD is to just drive the last 5-10 minutes nice and easy. That will allow the engine to cool down.

You can also do a few different mods for fan control:

1. There is a diagnotic wire which can be grounded to kick the fans on:
http://www.fd3s.net/fan_mod.html

2. There is a more in depth fan mod on that page listed above:
http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/fanswitch/fanswitch.html

3. FC/Miata Thermoswitch mod. Replace the stock FD thermoswitch with a FC or Miata thermoswitch. This will kick the fans on at a lower temperature than the FD stock thermoswitch.

IMO, #3 is the best option as its completely automatic. You don't have to remember to flip a switch.

Good luck.

Not to my knowledge. I don't believe the thermoswitch provides any functionality unless the car is running.

MoTeC allows for a set-time to run a couple functions after the ignition is cut.

i.e. electric water pump and fans
