turbo timer with fan controll?
are there turbo timers with fan controll function? i mean can thay leave fans on for several minutes after the engine is turned off? i found people do some sort of mods to leave fans on but is there a timer that adjuts this settings?

I usually set the turbo timer to 10 minutes then shut the car off and then back on in the acc. position then off. It will run the fans for 10 minutes or run them untill things cool off. This is the only reason I even have a T/T

but you are waiting for 10 minets for engine tu turn of right? what if you have to leave the car immidately?

Turbo timers are toys for foolish kids that don't know any better. They are a waste of time, space, and money. Don't get one!!!!

No, I don't let the car run for 10 minutes. I drive normally for a few minutes before I turn my car off. Then I turn the ignition back on, then off again to leave the fans running. I agree with Adam, turbo timers are a huge waste of money. The only reason I have it is because my wife got it for me for my b-day a few years ago. |

Using turbo timers to run the car for "cooling" purposes other than for non-water cooled turbos is a bad idea. The way radiators/oil coolers work is by having air flow through them to cool the liquid passing through. If the car is not moving, then the air flow is limited to just the fans and that's not a lot. The best idea with the FD is to just drive the last 5-10 minutes nice and easy. That will allow the engine to cool down. You can also do a few different mods for fan control: 1. There is a diagnotic wire which can be grounded to kick the fans on: http://www.fd3s.net/fan_mod.html 2. There is a more in depth fan mod on that page listed above: http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/fanswitch/fanswitch.html 3. FC/Miata Thermoswitch mod. Replace the stock FD thermoswitch with a FC or Miata thermoswitch. This will kick the fans on at a lower temperature than the FD stock thermoswitch. IMO, #3 is the best option as its completely automatic. You don't have to remember to flip a switch. Good luck. |
Hey mahkik, does the FC thermoswitch leave the fans on after shutting the car down?

Mahjik
thanks. I know about FC thermoswitch, I'm looking to buy one from somebody on this board. i could buy from you if you have it. I guess i will do a fanswitch mod to leave fans on for a couple of minutes after the engine is off. |
MoTeC allows for a set-time to run a couple functions after the ignition is cut.
i.e. electric water pump and fans :D |
