turbo problem

ive had my 3rd gen for a few days and so far so good. now i have experienced my first problem . my boost will stay in between 0-5 and it sounds like a big amount of air pressure is escaping whenever the turbo spools. can someone give me any tips on what i should check or do, and if so please let me know where everything is located thanks. <--- rx7 newbie

I had the exact same thing happen the other day. In my case, it was from me not re-connecting the hose that attaches to the stock elbow after I had removed the elbow. Sounds to me like you have a leak somewhere in the intake system after the turbos. I'm a newb myself so who knows?

I'd look at the connection for the two IC hoses as well as the elbow.

Yes, I second this. When I bought my car, it didn't have a boost gauge and I kept hearing this rush of air, and sure enough...the coupler was blown. Once I replaced that it was like I'd gained another 50 hp, I couldn't believe the difference in performance!

too anybody that has the wooshing noise when spooling up (and getting no more than 5psi) check your coupler that goes from the top of the Y-Pipe to the elbow piece. i had this same exact problem for about 2 months and i have been reading a lot to find out what the problem might be. but i fixed it today. now the car is hella fast now. hope this helps out.

Was the y-pipe coupler for me too! Seems a pretty common problem!!

Also a point of note, my standard dump valve vents air when the car is at stable revs and causes a huge wooshing noise. Only stops venting when the car is under boost! Then of course when you let off the throttle...

Wouldn't be noitceable unless you've got aftermarket intakes though
