turbo oil leak (Pictures)

I have an oil leak. It's been leaking small amounts of oil under the car each night.

Here are some pictures I took of the leak I found. Is there an easy solution...or do I need new turbos?

in case some one wonders, the first 3 pictures are taken from underneath the car, and on the right is the downpipe. The last picture is the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler. Some oil in it

Thanks

Do you have a pool of oil in the intercooler?
Are you shure that the oil is leaking out of the turbo seals and not out of the oil drain?
Does the engine smoke when the secondary turbo comes online?
Did you change to a different grade of oil or to syntheic?

There is no oil in the intercooler at all. Bone dry.

I am not sure it's leaking out of the turbo seals, what's the best way to test this? and by oil drain plug I'm assuming you mean the oil pan plug you remove when changing the oil, or is there a turbo oil drain plug (I've done a lot of work on this car over the past 6 years, but haven't touched the turbos).

I will check if there is smoke when the secondary turbo comes on. I'm going to go hook the intercooler back up and let it warm up.

I may have had 5w30 in the winter, and then switched to 10w30, but never used synthetic.

I have the same thing on my cars turbo also. idk if its normal or not, but what I DO know is that when I touched it, it didnt feel like oil. It felt like some kinda dried up goo? It was coming from the same place your oil was coming from. Even when I popped off the rear turbo pipe the inside of the turbo was bone dry so I have no idea what that is.

I have fixed all my oil leaks and I dont have any oil spots on my driveway anymore, but that gooy oil residue is still on my rear turbo. I guess as long as the car drives fine and its not dripping on the ground I wouldn't worry about it

yea I have the goo there, but it's also dripping oil. There is oil all over the underside of the car, on the frame. It's literally all over the place there, but seems to be originating from the turbo area.

Don't have an FD myself, but whenever theres an oil leak (and this goes for any car) clean the area up as best you can then go for a drive. Come back and check again and you can get a better idea of where its originating from.
One of the FD owners probably has a better idea though as they've probably come across this before.

yea I cleaned it up. went for a cruise and there was oil all over the underside and leaking onto the garage again.

It appears it may be coming from those two copper washers on the turbo I have pictured above

The oil drain that RenesisFD was talking about is NOT your oil drain plug in your engine oil pan. He is referring to the oil return pipe that connects to each turbo. In your picture, the oil leak looks like it is very close to the oil return pipe so it's not clear whether it is leaking from the oil return pipe gasket (where it meets the turbo, two 10mm nuts I believe) or from the turbo housing itself.

Looks like your oil feed and drain are leaking.

^ That is what i was thinking. Because he said that the oil is on the ground and there isnt much oil in the piping and no oil leaked out of the intercooler. So your turbos are probaly still good even with 70K miles.

Yea it definitely seems to be leaking from both places.

So suggestion is to place a new gasket on the oil drain pipe (the one with the 2 10mm bolts)

And replace those two copper washers on the oil feeder pipe?

...can I do this without removing the turbos?

the goupy substance is just extremely heated oil that has congealed, and yes that looks to be coming from your drain and feed lines. the only way to really remove those is to take off the turbos.

It is a pain, but the oil feed and returns can be replaced with the turbos in the car.
