Turbo Control Solenoid -> Part# & Costs

I just came back from mazda to check out the price on a turbo control solenoid cause my secondary has zero boost and all else seems fine.

First, here is the description:

N3A1-20-285 Valve, Duty

Does this seem correct? Im travelling right now and dont have my service manual with me.

Secondly - check this out. This printout he gave me was quite interesting(I dont think I was supposed to get all this info)

List Price: $148.90
Warr Price: $132.95
Dealer Cost: $79.75

Does anyone know where I can get it cheaper(cause obviously I have to pay list)?

I just called last week to the local (only one) dealer here in Corpus on this part. Champion Mazda qouted me $56.95. Intend to buy it next week and do the install myself.

Call Ray at Malloy Mazda. He'll get you the best price he can. I don't have his number handy, but it's on the forum.

I just finished replacing my control solenoids. According to Dave Barninger of KD Rotary, N3A1-20-285 is the precontrol and wastegate solenoid pair. $79.75 is what Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development charged me. This solenoid pair sits right behind the pressure tank. The turbo control solenoid you're after is the one that sits right on top of the air control valve, which is further back (toward the firewall), and right under the extension manifold air intake plennum. That turbo control soleonoid is part number N3A1-18-741. Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development price is $35.80. FWIW, I replaced both solenoids since, I knew I had to disassemble the extension manifold (aka UIM). Be careful replacing the solenoid pair bolts. It's best to remove the crossover pipe. If you don't you will surely drop the 10-mm bolt into the vacuum tray (ask me how I know this LOL )You should also replace all of your one-way check valves (vacuum chamber, double throttle control, pressure chamber, and vacuum line). Also check to make sure the vacuum line between the turbo control actuator and the rat's nest lines are connected; and the line connecting the vacuum chamber and the rat's nest lines. Good luck!

I spent the last two weeks diagnosing my secondary turbo problems (I have 5300 miles on my new J-spec twins), and the above is what I did to fix the secondary turbo issues FWIW my Power FC boost control settings also play a role in how the secondary turbo comes online after the switchover point (past 4500 rpm). Those of you with stock ECUs shouldn't have any further troubles if you take care of the above parts...Best of luck!

Turbo Precontrol the one that sits behind pressure tank with the wastegate solenoid. When applied vacuum to lower nipple is it suppose to hold or drop?
