FL Turbo Clearence Help!

Well removed the stock twins and now going single. The problem arised is that after installing the HKS cast manifold with external wastegate, the To4R Garrett Turbo will not clear the passenger side chassis inner fender brace etc.
Do I beat that inner fender in with a sledge or fab runners to bring the Turbo futher up and forward? The HKS manifold is brand new,if I had known the clearance issues, hot and cold sides hits I would of had a custom one made.
Any input would be appreciated.Pics coming soon.Thanks.

I would first check to see if your passenger side engine mount is in good shape. They tend to wear out first from the heat of the turbos. If it has degraded it could shift the engine to that side. Could be a potential cause of your issue.

Have you tried clocking the compressor more toward 1:00-2:00 o'clock. Mine has 1/2 inch clearance in that position.

Yes,i have rotated the compressor housing a full 360 deg in different increments, the housing itself hits the inner brace and so to the turbine side. This to me Is VERY VERY unusual.I have seen guys run bigger turbos with no clearance issues.yhx

On the reply box hit "Go Advanced" then bottom there's "Attach Files". Or you can use the img tags if you have the images hosted on a host. The image tag icon is easily used and found at the top of the reply box in advance. Get too lost then you can message me.

If you don't have a heat shield over the engine mount, double check as mentioned above. Would you pass tech' inspection with a smashed inner fender wall?

Smashed is abit harsh choice of words.Just lightly beat it where the turbo clears, ofcourse it will be repainted. They will have to look VERY closely, besides we don't have tech inspection.

Wow, that looks like my old A-Spec short manifold I sent back (and never received a replacement). I can't beleive that has raised HKS letters on it. Are you sure it's genuine?

The manifold you have is for the FC chassis and not the FD. The manifold that you need is pictured below.

I purchased a manifold like yours from SR Motorsports, I sent it back because they sent me the incorrect manifold. I now have one like the picture that I sent you... If fit perfectly.

Wow, really? What garbage customer service. They send you the wrong manifold, and when you bolt it up to test fit, it instantly becomes "used". I would call back and ask to talk to a Sales Manager on that one. TOTAL CRAP. I don't think I would rest so easy on a simple "no". You gotta get viscous sometimes. The ONLY reason it was bolted up is because you thought you had WHAT YOU ORDERED! Obviously the manifold is still new, as the car has not been started. And obviously they sent you the wrong part.

What vendor is this?

If they absolutely will not budge than unfortunately, your best luck may be to sell your manifold as "new" at a slightly reduced price. It's a fairly popular piece, even for FC guys as those manifolds are extremely durable. Then buy the proper manifold from a reputable vendor... I recommend rx7store.net. Jason will take care of you.

I would still stick with the HKS manifold. It's a durable piece. I know snafus like this are frustrating, but it comes with the territory. Bite the bullet and be patient.

PM'd you. I have a spare that I can hook you up with if need be...
