Exclamation Tuning Question

Hi,

I'm looking into purchasing a street-ported motor and a set of BNR stage 3 turbo's. Now I have a few questions. First of all does anyone have any experience with the ported motors being sold by RX7store.net? If not, could anyone provide me with suggestions on where I could purchase a street ported motor that's highly recommended?

Secondly, I own a shop that can handle the install of both the motor and turbos. Now my question is I currently have a Pettit Unlimited ECU, which has been sufficient for my mods, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to drive on this only to A-spec (probably), which is 15 miles from house? I'm purchasing a Power FC in the meantime, but if it's not tuned for my motor and turbos will I still be able to drive the car? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Riz

Pettit ECU's can handle ported motors with BNR turbos at normal boost levels (i.e. don't crank up the boost to 17 PSI).

Will be able to keep the Pettit one on then? I'll have the PFC, but I'll just give it to the shop and tell them to install and handle the tuning from there. So, I just really need to know if I can drive safely with the Pettit ECU and those mods. Thanks

I was just doing a little more research and came up with a couple new questions. Would it be suggested with the current set-up described above that I port my wastegate? I know this is necessary for "safely" running a midpipe, but what about the BNR twins and a streetport? My current set-up involves a hi-flow cat, which I'll probably ditch when I do these upgrades, so I wanted to know if the wastegate porting was a neccessity?

Also, I'm still interested in knowing peoples experiences with the RX7store.net street ported motor if anyone would recommend going in a different direction. All comments welcome.

Thanks

LoL....my fault I guess I haven't done enough research. Thanks for the heads up Rynberg. Another quick question, should I wait until the break-in period is over before properly dyno tunning the car? Since I'll be purchasing/installing these parts at the same time, I believe both the turbo and motor will be new. I heard the recommended break-in mileage is 500-1000 miles. Please let me know. Thanks.

On ours or anyone elses ported engine just make sure the car is tuned well. I recommend a full break in before dyno tuning it.

Every engine builder seems to have a different break-in routine, but my builder's routine makes the most sense to me:

0-500 miles: No going over 4000 rpm, no WOT, boost is ok
500-1000 miles: raise allowable rpm by 500 rpm every 100 miles or so, boost is ok, short term WOT is good
1000+ miles: beat the **** out of it...
