tube-thingy in exhaust manifold kind of a crispy critter....56K beware

I wonder what this little tube is SUPPOSED to look like brand new? Will this burnt-off little fellow affect anything?

Its for the EGR system. All of the ones I see look like that. If it worries you, just grind off the crap.

Actually, it's not for EGR - it's for port air. Air pump air is injected into the manifold there.

Won't hurt anything if it looks crispy like that. Just leave it be.

Are you sure about that? I have a 95 which didn't come with an EGR system and it doesn't have that pipe. It did come with an air pump though.

It is the source of the exhaust gas that the EGR valve sends into the intake manifold.

See the diagram on page F-125 of the 1994 FSM on the EGR system.

I push out the tube or drill it out and then weld the hole shut on both ends .Part of the rich man non seq set up that I do .

Thanks for the info. I am doing quite the rich mans conversion myself. Although since I have my own machine shop and welder, Materials are the only cost that I have.
