Trying to put a value on my FD

I have been wondering what the value of my RX-7 is. It is a 1993 Touring Edition, silver w/ red leather, stock, and 56,300 miles. It has a clean title. I am thinking it is worth at least $13,000.

I'd think about $13k -$15k. Could be more or less depending on who's buying (dealer, someone who knows FD's, ricer kid, etc.)

stock engine? tranny?

remember that red interior is not exactly popular? What shape is the car in?

reliability mods?

a stock car won't pull the premium a modded car will, unless it's got really low miles..

93 is also the worst year for the fd (all the problems that were fixed with the 94)\

assuming it's in excellent shape.., your car probably won't go for over $12,500 (book value). Excellent means: "needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new."

so basically if you've got any wear on the car, start taking off money to get it back to excellent.

Typically, I've seen recent cars (well-modded) for for that price range, so I'd stick close to the $10k range to be more realistic.

Remember though, in the end, it's worth what someone will pay.

remember that your car is 11 years old, which makes financing, quite frankly, a bitch. This means the buyer will have to have cash, OR a really cool credit union). That will make it harder to sell.

It has the stock engine, tranny, leather is in good condition, and there have been no reliability mods done. The tranny has just been checked, the driveshaft was replaced, the oil pan gasket was replaced with a better one and the rear main seal was replaced. Also it has been repainted the stock color.

big value killer here... Why was it repainted? wrecked? who painted it? is there trash in the paint? overspray? visible runs?

the best way to try to sell a car is to give yourself a bottom line. Don't negotriate under that, then, if I were you, I'd ask full book value to make your car competitive. (ie. $12,500.)

If the price is too high, it won't sell, so after a while you knock it down to $12,000, and so on until you hit your bottom line... Then you keep it and realize that you don't want to sell your rx7 for anything in the world).

Well I am not trying to sell it now but I just want to know what it is currently worth. It was repainted because the clearcoat began fading. There isn't any trash in the paint but there is a tiny spot of overspray that is barely noticable.

For everyones Information You wont find an Original Painted 93 FD. The paint in 93 was recalled and about every car was repainted under warrenty. It has no bearing on our cars value for 93 models. Your more likely to have better resale if the color is 1. original color 2. Is a good quality job. I would easliy value your car at 14k-15.5k for miles alone. Condition is a huge factor and I assume yours is in Good to excellent? List it for 15.5k dont take less than 14k. Its a steal.

Yes, finally someone who knows... A 93 with the original paint is rare. Mazda paid to repaint most of them. You never said but I assume its a 5-speed. Silver/Red is fairly rare. I would ask $16K. You can always go down. Have the interior panels been replaced with the non-peeling type? That would be a big factor for me. Good luck, and don't listen to anyone who quotes you what the book says its worth. Also peoplefirst.com now capitalone.com (I think) will finance it no questions asked. (with good credit)

Yes again with it beeing in good shape and having red interior is what makes it rare. I would say it's worth about $15kish maybe more.

Not sure if I should be interrupting. I live in Japan and am thinking about buying an RX7 - Year 2000, 14,000 Km ('bout 8,000 miles), unmarked, no mods, 18 mnths warrany left, Price approx. $23,500. Is this a good deal ?

In the Bay Area you could probably ask $18k for the car, and you'll easily find someone to buy it.
