HKS or Apex exhaust?
Anyone have an HKS Hiper Exhaust w/ the carbon fiber muffler and titanium tip? I can't decide between the Apex N1 single or the HKS. I've seen some pretty impressive results with the Apex unit, but I've never seen anything about the HKS. Thanks.

I had heard that the HKS Super Dragger I (not II) was almost worse than stock. I personally thought that was due to a number of other things involving the exact car it was on. The Dragger II was in fact a significant improvement, vouched by many (search, I know its there) Thats about all I could tell you... no HP #'s though. Sorry

I have the HKS Carbon Ti and I think it's a great exhaust. The piping is pretty straight with minimal bends and the canister is large enough with a big ti tip at the end. Not sure how it compares to the other in terms of power but this one sure gave me a nice smile.
Kinda quiet at idle and very deep once I get on it, especially in the 3k-4k rpms.... And from what I hear the N1 is quite a loud *****
Here are some quick pics:

the HKS hiper racing is the higest flowing, it has 4 inch piping and is from the dp back. the muffler in titanium but the piping is ss. the GT spec is the highest flowing Apexi makes. from what i hear it has 3.5 inch piping and only the cansiter is ss.

Are you sure the entire canister is titanium? I thought it was just all SS. The HKS Carbon Ti is exactly the same as the Hiper except for the SS canister w/cf wrap and the titanium tip.

apexi is higher pitch, Hi-Power is way deeper and much more beefier sounding. this is on an SR20DET, but should be the same scale on your cars as well. piping bends looked similar, but apexi seemed to be a little straighter

I guess I'll just have to do a bit more research. Thanks for the help though, and thanks for the pics EvilPeNevil. I'll post my decision and install pics when I finish.

Hey evil, thanks for the pix. I'm thinking about that CarbonTi. I've heard it weighs very little. do you know the weight?
That's one reason why I'd like to get the carbonTi. Also I'ts got to at least be a bit quiter than my current Greddy Power Extreme.

Actually I don't remember how much it weighs, but it's not very heavy. I had it on the scale right before installation but can't remember the figures, but it's at least twice as light as the stock catback tho.

Yeah it's pretty noticable. I did have the yokos all around until the front ones were so worn down that I bought some used SX MXX3s so that it'll were out more evenly with the rears, which are getting there.
