Unhappy Trouble starting?

Did a search but they seemed to be related to warm start troubles

I've noticed a few probs since the cold season hit here in the uk, not sure if they are related to the weather but still wouldnt mind getting an idea of whats up:

The problem is im having a LOT of trouble starting my car lately, if the cars warm and has only been off for an hour, instant (well near instant start)

If left for days, it sounds like its killing itself starting, killed the battery a few times trying to start it, battery sounded weak anyway, but its a relatively new battery (less than a year old) , what could cause it to be going dead/crap starts, plugs, alternator??

Also i read these cars are supposed to start pretty much instantly the minute you turn the key, mine has always sort have ticked over once or twice then started, i know its a small thing, but what way is there to ensure an instant (or quick as possible) perfect start?? (like HKS ignition system?)

What about the temp rating of the plugs in this weather? Or has that got nothing to do with it?

Engine was rebuilt less than 6 months ago, runs fine when its started, its the starting thats a bitch. Cars has no mods.

Thanks

Ryan

How long ago did you replace the plugs, wires? It could be your alternator. Hard to say really.

How long ahs the car sat w/o being started since the battery was purchased? What is the punch date on the battery? Do you have to jump the car to start it? When a car sits w/o being started for long periods of time the battery has a tendency to die.

Alternator has nothin to do with starting. It just keeps it running. Like if your alternator was bad you would see constent dead battery or dimed lights and ****. Usally an alternator porblem doesnt start with the car not wanting to start. I might check the starter. Might be goin bad. Just bring it to a local car parts store and they can test both your alterntor and your starter. But what it sounds like to me is starter.

Its in your ignition. I've had the same problem before. Give it a tune up asap.

The car sits at most for 5 days without being started. I'll check the starter spooling thanks. Seems to me as if the battery is being drained somehow over those 4-5 days.

Should have a solution by friday!

Also have you done any work to the electrical system like a new stereo or amp or some thing becuse you could a short some where that is draining the battery. But more than likely I would say the starter.

Just to answer one of your initial questions, I've never heard of a rotary starting instantly. They always take a couple of swooshes over before they catch and start. My car, for instance, has a brand new engine, and brand new starter, and still turns over a few times before it starts.

Hmm so would a knackered starter drain the battery while its just sitting there?

Dont think off the top of the head i've done anything electrical, but i'll check all my stereo wiring etc.
