Trashed water pump?

Hey Rx-7 land.

Few weeks back, car started spewing CONSIDERABLE amounts of coolant and screaming as only a band of godless harpies could.

Couldn't immediately identify any broken hoses, and the rad was still chock full of fluid and non leaky (but the tube where the upper rad hose connects the rad, practically disintegrated when i got the hose off -- this wasn't the problem though).

So i pulled the water pump --- this is what i found.

and a closeup of the scarring.

So cats-- here's my question. This does NOT look normal to me -- BUT --- i could find no signs of what could have done this? The blades on the pump look shiney and new. Not ground to hell? Mind you, it's not much scarring -- but still. The pump seemed to turn freely (should it spin easily?) and there didn't seem to be any play to the pully or pump.

Anyway.

Basically, what parts should i order?

someone must have pulled their water pump cover and either seen this, or more importantlyk, NOT seen this.

Dude...your water pump failed. No big deal. Happens all the time, once the bearing goes the coolant comes out the 'weep hole', this is THE sign it is time to change out the pump.
Just go get a new one and you will be fine.

Just need to get the parts.

Does it come as all one unit? with the filler neck, termostat + switches, pump and gastkets?

wow! Will do!

Would it be crazy to assume i need a new housing? I don't think putting that back on appeals to my obsessive compulsive ideas of vehicle maintenance.
