trapped inside!

I took the car out for a while yesterday and when I went to get out...I couldn't. The little cable attachment to the bottom of the inside door opener mechanism had failed (see yellow arrow).

I am sure there were some amused people to see a 6'1", 230 lb 53 year old guy crawling out the passenger door...

Yeah, it turned out that my lock cylinder was hosed up. I'd worked on it a few days ago and thought I had it fixed, but it sort of screwed the system up and had the door locked. When I pulled on the inside handle (repeatedly and hard, I admit) it broke the cable end, and also precluded me from simply rolling down the window and using the outside handle.
It was actually a bitch to fix, I had to take the outside handle off when I got home (with the door still locked shut) and finagle the damned thing until I got it to unlatch, then work on the lock cylinder again to fix it right.

Couldn't open the window and use the exterior handle on the drivers side?

Pull up to the Casino.
The Valet will come over and open your door for you.

The outside handle didn't work, either, as the lock had essentially stuck 'on'. I had to take the outside handle off, and it still took a long time to get the door to open by messing with the rods.

LMFAO. If it makes you feel better I saw a giant body builder leaving the gym tonight. I guess the driver's door in his explorer was broken because he had to get in the passenger door and crawl across the seat to the driver side.

Pick the statement that is most true from the following:

A) Studies have shown that unemployment payments stimulate job growth and the economy.

B) Those over the age of 50 tend to stay more fit and limber, and have a wider vocabulary, if they own a 20+ year old sportscar.

C) Miley Cyrus was just tying her shoe when that guy with a foam finger walked up.

How hard were you yanking the door release? I'm kidding. But those cables can take a fair bit of abuse from what I've seen.

(Most times it doesn't even register to people that the door is locked, so they continue to yank and pull on the release until the plastic release lever breaks off before the cable ever snaps)

My pet peeve is people (mostly passengers) yanking the unholy hell out of the door release lever to get out, when the door is actually locked. And they don't stop to think about it. Like a goldfish, they just keep doing it again and again, harder and harder in each attempt until they break something, and then they blame the car for breaking

"Derr, why isn't the door opening?? Stupid door. Stupid car. I'll fix this. I'll pull on this door release lever even HARDER!! Nope, that didn't make it open. Duhhh.... I'll pull EVEN HARDER this time...!! Oh it broke. What a stupid car!!"

And they do it so fast, you don't even have time to stop them or explain the door is locked, and BAM, its done. Something busted.

I hate these freakin door mechanisms. They can build a rotary but they can't build a door to open correctly for more than a year. Pathetic!
