Transmission issues

My car is making just south of 700whp and I keep going through transmissions. I have been running S5 T2 transmissions and went through 4 in 6 months and they're getting more difficult to find.

I'm looking into swaps but I feel that a dogbox is my only 100% bulletproof swap I can run without any hesitation.

I'd love some insight and please point me int the right direction so I never break another transmission again even if I do reach 1000hp

Thank you in advance

There's a thread posted a day or two ago about a Liberty upgrade of a stock transmission, that may be worth looking in to.

I'd avoid using the stock transmission case if you're going through transmissions often. I went through a ton of them in a short period of time and the common theme was that the transmission case/input shaft bearing failed; This caused things to break inside due to the amount of slop the input shaft developed. The case doesn't allow for bigger bearings to distribute the load of high horsepower. The bearings fail or the case flexes and the you have a failure in the transmission; Sometimes it's gears, sometimes bearings, sometimes other stuff but it still fails due how sloppy the bearings get with the added load. The liberty upgrade does help with shearing the input shaft but it doesn't help with the other failures; It's well documented here that they still fail at high power.

The only true way to prevent future failures is to go to another transmission. I put together a T56 Magnum setup in my car before anyone offered anything to the public and found a lot of issues with it working; such as a significant amount of bellhousing issues along with actually fitting it in the car. They offer kits now for the Magnum but it's not immune to damage, it's just much harder to hurt because it has a LOT of structural strength. The ideal transmission depends on what you're using the car for. I wouldn't recommend a Magnum for true drag racing, just like I wouldn't recommend a clutchless Gforce to someone road racing.

Can you tell us what you use your car for?
