Micropolish the eccentric shaft? Will it mess with bearing clearance?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my motor and there's a side on the e-shaft where there's a little wear on journal. (well duh there's gonna be wear) but I hope you guys know what I mean... a LITTLE extra than what I would leave alone. I know it only goes by thousandths or maybe ten-thousandths of polishing but my goal is to hit around 450hp and was wondering if doing a micropolish will affect anything. And I haven't seen any bearings on mazdatrix or anything that show diff. thicknesses so that questions me. Thanks in advance.

So long as you're within specs, I think you'll be ok.

I would be careful when polishing the eccentric shaft. Tolerances can be checked about the diameter, but during polish it is possible for more material to be removed in certain sections about the circumference of the shaft.

Check out the link below for more details:

How did you do that? A micropolish is supposed to precent that lol. Smoothen any uneven wear on the journals. That's why I wanna do it to my E-shaft.... I just wanna do the inside and outside stationary gear journals but if its the same price to do all the journals I might as well do it. So only one guy got his E-shaft micropolished?

**The reason why I want to do this is because the front stationary gear bearing is messed up and the outside journal shows a bit more wear than the others.**

I will most measure the diameter and get back with the specs. Anyone else get the same problems as jdmluver?

Did you make sure you were still within specs after it was polished?

Jeremy,
They do make different size bearings. Page 1-E3 on the 93 parts fische for the stationary gear bearings and page 1-L3 for the rotor bearings.

I chucked my E-shaft in a lathe and polished it with CLEANED 1800 grit and it still measured in spec with the 150,000 mile bearings it had been running with.

The bearing specs are pretty liberal and the specs you need for high rpm and/or high HP are even more liberal.

I just removed the oil varnish and gave it a bit of polish.

If the damage on the journal catches your fingernail don't bother trying to polish it out- get a new shaft or run it knowing it is not optimal.

I re-polished my crank before throwing it back in the 12abp. Runs great. MSD limiter is at 9,900.
