tranny problem, not shifting. need help ASAP

okay, well my tranny took a crap on me a couple weeks ago. i ordered a jap take out tranny from what is supposed to be a reputable company. they even gave me a 90 day unlimited warranty.

i get the tranny, just got it installed, but it won't shift at all. it goes between the 1/2 and 3/4 gates, but won't actually go into any gears no matter how hard you shove. also will not go into the 5/rev gate. i know they have the spring there that makes it tough sometimes, but it absolutely will not go.

so it's now 2 days from the revolution, i've already paid for 4 people to go, plus hotel rooms and i'm stuck. anybody know if i can fix this? or am i pretty much screwed?

sounds to me like it's stuck in a gear, when you put the car in neutral and you let the clutch out, does it still stall? if that happens your stuck in a gear. happened to me, i had to have my tranny taken apart and unjammed and they had to put the bitch back together and back in.

no, the car hasn't been started yet. the tranny is not stuck in gear. that's how my old one was, i know how that feels. this one just seems like there's something keeping it from going in any gear. i know it's in neutral, but it absolutely will not come out of it

okay, i went back out to double check it. i stuck the driveshaft in, and tried to turn it. no such luck. i guess it is stuck in gear. what's the possibility of this being a quick fix? is it something that could have happened from shipment or from sitting in a junkyard for a while?

clutch fork is brand new. it had the same symptoms when the tranny was sitting on the ground, so it's nothing to do with the clutch.

it was bought from asapmotor.com

they seem legit enough and he even talked me out of buying a tranny from ebay. looks like ya get screwed any way ya go.

i just got done trying to take my old one apart to get a better idea of how they work, but i just can't work right now. i'm gonna get some sleep, call the guy and see what the deal is, then go about trying to fix it

fixed. i took the tranny back out, popped the tail section off. i noticed the shift fork/lever for 5th and reverse was pushed down and the other were still in the neutral position. this explains my problem of not being able to get it in that gate. probabl because it was impossible. at any rate, i pushed it back into position, threw the tail section back on, sealed it up, and now it shifts good. i gotta throw some fluid in it and do a few more things, then i should be good to go for the revolution
