I think most would recommend a good synthetic of the proper weight for the transmission. Redline, NEO, Royal Purple etc. Same for the differential.
As for engine oil...I think a safe consensus is any quality name brand, just change it and the filter often. Synthetic vs. Mineral has not been settled.
Do a search in this section and you'll get many threads.

edit: If your installing a rebuilt engine, do a seperate search for that. I don't think a synthetic is recommended for the break-in period.

Good luck.
Jim

I put my engine and tranny in all at once right through the front of the car!!! it was pretty damn quick but took patience and some friends to help. I went with valvoline syn for gear oil. and valvoline synth 10w 30 for engine. They are probably right to asume it isnt best for break in, but you knwo what? Can't be too safe is what I say. Oh by the way go get your self a spark plug cleaner because your plugs will faul up quite a lot during break in from what I read and experienced.

Putting them in together would be the best way to go, as you can get everything lined up and attached before you get it in our little FD's Sgt Blue's correct about the tranny and diff fluids, personally I like royal purple but we all know that ****'s pretty expensive but great. Motor oil is debateable, some argue syn is better for the turbos etc, but doesn't burn well as our motors inject oil (although that problem was corrected in most syns a long time ago). I believe as long as you change under 3000 miles you'll be fine no matter what type of motor oil you use. Most people's opinions don't actually have any research, facts, etc. on what differences, if any, are noteworthy.
