TN Top Speed Exhaust system

Hey guys, I just bought a new exhaust for my FD. My technician just called and said, "my secondary air pipe to the cat doesn't have a hook up". I need help, text or post here. Ryan 901-921-0101

Also, do I need to chip my car with just a turbo back exhaust? Everything is bone stock. I do have a Power FC but didn't plan on putting it on until I do more (if I do more). There's nobody that tunes these anywhere around Memphis to my knowledge anyway.

You might need to use the PFC. If your car is boosting normally then you might be able to keep the stock ECU. Just be careful of over boost and boost creep.

I assume you replaced the cat with a midpipe so you probably wont have a place to put the hose for the air injection system and since there is nothing inside the midpipe anyway pumping air in there is probably pointless. If you have emissions where you live just keep your cat when you need to pass.

Thanks Reno, I do not have to be inspected. Can I leave it unhooked? Will it throw a check engine or damage anything?

You can unplug the air pump and cap the pipe. Just install the PFC

Such an easy answer that it shows your mechanic does not have the knack!
Find a competent mechanic and have him weld in a 1/2" SS pipe into the exhaust system just before the cat. This will work.

My car only uses the cat only for inspections. The rest of the year it runs the MP which has such a pipe so that the air from the ACV goes their. It does clean up the smell some even without the cat.

My new exhaust system does not have a catalytic converter.

+1 It's very easy to remove the airpump - you'll need a shorter pulley however. If you get a generic pulley kit (WP + alternator), which runs about $50, it will likely come with a belt that is the right size. A better option is an idler pulley kit, but it's more expensive...

I'm just leaving it disconnected and using my PFC that I've had new in box for a year. I sent it off to Rotary Performance for the tune it today. I want to leave everything in tact for emissions as they are trying to pass a new law saying everybody in TN will have to be inspected. I am in the county so I am still exempt for now. My car is bone stock and runs awesome so I'm a little nervous about the PFC installation.

I didn't miss it, just don't have that option as my midpipe doesn't have any hook up for the ACV. Mary at Rotary Performance said it would be fine. As far as the smell, it's horrible now, can't imagine it much worse.
