Top Speed?

Hi-

Just out of curiosity, what have you gotten up to on top speed? I don't own a Gen 3, but I drove one, and got it up to 140 on a downhill section of highway. I drive a Gen 2, and I know I can't do 140 (I wish). Thanks.

130MPH up a highway grade

Did 130MPH up a slight grade on highway. Ran out of straight highway and coming up to other cars fast. Had to slow down. MPH was still climing. I have been told after my mods you should be able to reach 150MPH. I 'm not going to find that out though. Playing it safe.

I to have a 86Sports with cold air intake and a Greddy Extreme exhaust. THats all the mods worth doing to it. Find a 3rd Gen and use the 2nd Gen as a daily driver.

Hi,
You should probably do a search. There have been a few threads about the top speed subject, and they are always full of debates. It seems that noone has an end all answer. I've had mine to just over 170mph, and there was more room(I pussed out). However, I didn't have enough torque to break 150mph up a hill. I started pulling again when I reached the top.
Good luck.
Jim

I've never really been scared of speed on the ground(when i'm driving). I hate planes though. Actually, I hate boats too. I don't know, i'm wierd. Anyway, it was amazing going that fast. I had the windows down, and the sun roof open(not the smartest thing). The turbulence inside the car was so great, that my Revo's flew out the sunroof!
It was worth it.

My power related mods at the time were:
Pettit intake
Down pipe
Racing Beat exhaust
EFI cpu (12lbs obf boost)

I'm going through withdrawl right now, as my turbos are gone.

I can't wait to get back in the saddle.

ummmm. 155 in an automatic , held it there for about 3-4 minutes, mainly because i was coming over an overpass on the interstate and spotted a cop on the other side runnin radar. Figured i was already caught doin ~140 might as well try to get away. I dont even think he bothered comin after me.

130 the first time. My wife said that was fun lets do it again so then i ran her up to 150 before I let off. I had only owned the car for two days when I did that. I was in Wyoming. On a rural road on one in sight for miles. Everything was completely stock. She felt extremely smooth at that speed. No floating at all. (i was very suprised)

Cool. You just proved a point to some friends of mine. They said that it would be impossible to hit those type of speeds on the stock ECU, because there is a limiter of some kind. I have never heard of the limiter, and now am remembering that I did my top speed without an upgraded ECU. They wouldn't believe me. Now there's another person saying the same thing.
they'll have to think a little now.

Only ever been to 120. It's kinda scary, 'cause I switch back and forth between the 7 and the daily driver... the 7 gets to 120 as fast as the DD gets to 60. I usually just look down after I think I've hit a good 0-60 run, and realize I'm crusing at 110+. It's just too easy sometimes...

stock fd shoudl be good for about 160 mph, even if your speedo says somethign over that its most likely not accurate in that area. the top speed depends on a lot fo factors, wind resistance, air temp, humidity, tire pressure, lip no lip, spoiler no spoiler, windows down or up, lights and so on...

Just so everyone here knows, CyberBen3 from the forum just got pulled over and arrested for going 155mph in a 55mph zone.
I have had mine to 143mph in 4th before I shifted and started to slow down. I have no idea what Ben was trying but he is fucked now. Be careful when you run topend, have more people with you to watch for cops up ahead and from behind.
